Message from the Principal
Werte Bradshaw Primary School parents and community,
It has been a fantastic start to the term with plenty happening across the school.Every year, students from year 1 to year 10 across the NT take part in PAT Reading and PAT Mats assessments in term 4. Last week we started testing with our students. Having supported some classes do the test and having walked around the school, it was clear that Bradshaw students know how to SHINE. They are committed to showing their learning and doing their best. The dedicated, quiet work, where everybody tried their absolute hardest persevered even when the questions were extremely challenging was pleasing to see. All we ever ask is that our students do their absolute best, and they have certainly impressed us with that.
In the coming weeks there are so many things taking place across the school. We have had excursions to the community gardens, year 6 market day, Transition information evenings, The Beat Performance. We also have Book fair, Halloween disco, Alice Can Dance, Bike Riding and so much more coming up. Please keep and eye out for notes coming home and on Facebook.
We have had an increase in the number of students coming to school without a hat. Trust us, we know children tend to misplace hats (I’ve had to replace quite a few myself) but if everyone make a conscious effort to send students to school with hats we would greatly appreciate it.
Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend and looking forward to seeing all the student return on Monday.
Many thanks,
Tim O’Sullivan
Principal

Enriching culture in Arrente with Miss Liddle
Werte,
We have been working very hard this term. Our focus had been around stories and storytelling. Our big project this term is creating our own stories. Yes that’s 17 books that Miss Liddle will be creating, but with all the students work. We will be translating as many words as we can to Arrernte. At the end of the process there will be processed books to keep in the ALC room.
Kele!

Fun times in 2 Spencer-Wright
On Friday the 11th of October, we, 2SW, had the pleasure and privilege of attending the opening of Finlayson Park. When we arrived, were greeted by Alice Springs Town Council CEO Andrew Wilsmore along with other members from the council, community and Town Council Mayor Matt Paterson. After cutting the ribbon and officially opening the park, we enjoyed the opportunity to test the new equipment and enjoy the delicious snacks provided. We very honored and grateful to have been invited by the council to open the park and thought the new play equipment was fantastic!

1 Haigh and 1 Minesso excursions
Last week, Year 1 H and 1M went on an excursion to the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens. This was a fun and great opportunity to learn more about our local community and the history of Olive Pink which is part of our learning this term. Year ones walked all the way up to Annie Meyers Hill where they followed and listened to our guide Doug who explained to us how Alice Springs has changed over time! We were even able to identify familiar places in our area from the top. It was also great to share and ask questions with our guide as he spoke about the gardens, vegetation and how different it was during Olive Pink’s time at the gardens.
It was such a great learning experience!

We are Mathematicians in ½ Griffiths!
As we dive into Term 4, students have embarked on an exciting learning journey filled with hands-on math experiences! We explored the concept of capacity in the newly refurbished sand pit, measuring and comparing different containers to discover how much each can hold. This activity not only enhanced their understanding of volume but also encouraged teamwork as they collaborated on measurements.
Another engaging lesson involved creating number lines using string and straws, which helped students visualize numbers and understand their relationships more clearly. Finally, Market Day was a highlight, allowing students to learn about the value of money, making transactions, and understanding change—all while having a blast with their friends!

Learning in 5McGinn
Throughout term 4, 5M have already been working extremely hard in all areas of the school day! We are exploring lots of new elements of science and in Art they have been creating x-ray art.
Our class have been enjoying getting to join in CrossFit on a Thursday afternoon.
So far in literacy this term we have been reading our new book Help Around the House. We have enjoyed exploring Ludo and learning how to write excellent paragraphs.
In Math’s this term we have been focusing on division and consolidating all of our learning from the year. We have also been practicing our times tables so be sure to quiz them at home.
Our HASS topic this term is looking at Active and Engaged citizens, we have been looking at what makes a person an active and engaged citizen and how young people can be one too. We are also looking at volunteering, homelessness and scouts. In our learning our children have also had the opportunity to send to questions to a scout group in the UK and get a response.
5M are also very lucky to get to have school Intersport this term where they are playing basketball with other schools. We are doing great so far!
We are excited to see what the last 5 weeks of term 4 brings!
