Term 3, Week 2 2024
Message from the Principal
Werte Bradshaw Community,
I hope everyone had an amazing school holiday and that you were able to relax and spend some quality time with friends and family. It has been great to welcome everyone back and to see so many happy and enthusiastic students. All the teachers are excited to see their students again and get straight back into learning.
This term is shaping up to be another busy one. This week the year 4 and 5 classes went off to Hamilton Downs for their school camp. Having spoken to staff and students, it was clear that everyone had a fantastic time in the wide-open space that central Australia is famous for. Our students showed that they know how to CARE, SHARE and SHINE not only at school but also when they are together off school campus through their respectful and polite interaction with each other and staff and by including others in their games and activities. Thanks to the teachers, staff and volunteers who accompanied our students on this camp. It is always a big undertaking but with everyone positive and good will they are always a large success.
This term we welcome new staff.
Ms Georgia Purvis-Mcginn has joined us all the way from northern England and is stepping into the Year 5 class that Mr Ferrier has been leading since Term 2. Mr. Ferrier came out of retirement in Port Macquarie after a long and successful career in education to come to Alice Springs to take this year 5 class. He has decided, to finish up this week and hand the class over to Georgia. Thanks, Mr. Ferrier, for your time here and working so hard with our students.
Ms. Preston is taking the Year 1 class that Ms. Abel had been taking for much of the year. Ms. Preston joins us from Canada. We are confident that with Ms. Preston’s experience and with the support she has around her that the class will have a very successful rest of the year.
This year is Bradshaw’s 50th birthday party. Please look out for your invitation. We are excited to celebrate with all our current and former students, families and staff this magnificent milestone. We will be having a large celebration at the end of term. More details to come.
Have a great weekend and we will see you all next week.
Thanks
Tim O’Sullivan

100 Days Smarter in Transition
Our Transition students all celebrated being 100 days smarter this week, and what an amazing day they had. Not only were they able to count to 100, they were also able to dress up as 100 year olds. Check out some of our stylish 100 year olds at Bradshaw.

GUTS Dance with Bradshaw
On Monday, GUTs dancing came back to visit some of our year 3 students and taught them some cool dance moves. We are super excited to have them at our school over the next 7 weeks. Cheeky and Casey played dancing games with the students to get their bodies moving. It was loads of fun!

Cricket and CrossFit fun
A huge thank you to Mr Chandra from NT Cricket and Ash Augey from CrossFit for coming in this term and teaching our Bradshaw learners some fun additional ways of learning outside of the classroom.

Year 4 and 5 camp
Our Year 4 and 5 students went out to Hamilton Downs for camp this week, and what an amazing time had by all. A couple frosty mornings and evenings, but that didnt stop our Bradshaw learners from making the most of the wide-open space and amazing scenery.

Potato Olympics with our 3/4 class
The non camp attenders from Year 3/4 participated in the Potato Olympics this week where they learnt the history and a few icky facts about the ancient Olympics. They coached their potato athletes and competed in running, bowling, diving, gymnastics and weightlifting.

Yes Hat, Yes Play!
We are having to remind our Bradshaw learners about our Yes Hat, Yes Play policy at Bradshaw. Please assist us in encouraging students to come to school with a wide-brimmed or bucket hat to wear during break times or outside play.
