Principal Update
Werte Bradshaw Primary School Community,
I hope everyone had a fantastic ANZAC day spent with friends and family. We had a wonderful ANZAC day assembly today where we got to commemorate all those who have served and sacrificed their lives in war. It was fantastic to hear from Ms McGregor’s year 3 students. They shared their learning on ANZAC day and more specifically John Simpson and his donkey, Duffy, who saved more than 300 inured soldiers.
Next week we are very excited to have authors Meredith Costain and Judith Rossell visiting the school to run sessions with students. It is always a great opportunity and a rewarding experience for our students to meet and interact with people from outside of the school who can share their expertise and skills with us.
It has been exciting getting around to hear the different teams practising their cheers in the lead up to sports day on Friday the 10th of May. This is a great time for students to learn how to CARE, SHARE and SHINE in a competitive environment. I know teachers are working with students on showing how they CARE during sports days by making sure they only use encouraging words not just for their team but also for the other team; how they SHARE on sports day by making sure others get a go; and SHINE by taking part in as many events as possible and participating in a positive way by cheering others on. We really look forward to sports day and hope to see as many families as possible.
It is with sadness, that we announce that Ms. Abel is finishing up at the end of the week 3 to pursue teaching opportunities overseas. Ms. Abel has been teaching grade 1 for the last few years at Bradshaw and has done a fantastic job in setting up student to be successful in their school. We are going to miss Ms. Abel and wish her the absolute best in whatever comes next.

Anzac Day Assembly
Our school gathered together in a special assembly to commemorate Anzac Day. Our SRC did a fantastic job of facilitating the event. Students listened to a recount of Simpson and his donkey by 3M, followed by a respectful Ode of rememberence. Classes marched in reverence to lay their wreath at the flag pole. All students were treated to an Anzac biscuit supplied by our SRC. It was a lovely way to remember the courage and sacrifice of those who have served.
