Term 1, Week 5 - 2024
Principal Update
Werte Bradshaw Primary School Community,
Another busy couple of weeks since our last newsletter.
We continue to offer a range of exciting opportunities for various year levels across the school that so many students are relishing.
Mountain biking on Tuesday mornings has proven extremely successful and a great way to start off the day. Thanks Ms. Warner and Ms. Spencer-Wright for running this hour. GUTS dance has continued to work with some of the year 4s on Mondays and it has been great to see so many students enjoying and participating in this. A number of students participated in a bike building program and it was a massive success. After a number of building sessions over a couple of weeks, students now have their own bikes that they built themselves. Students have been participating in CrossFit sessions while NT music school lessons have kicked off for participating students. This is just some of the exciting opportunities we are providing students across the school – as you can see, we have been very busy this term.
Over the next couple of weeks all students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in Australia are sitting the NAPLAN exams. This is a great opportunity to see how we as a school and our students individually are tracking. All we ever expect of our students is that they SHINE by giving it their best go, as we know they will. However, it is important that students come to school having had a good night’s sleep and having had breakfast. We know that sleep and nutrition are really important for helping students concentrate and learn.
Can we please welcome Mr. Peter Ferrier, who is now teaching the year 5 class Mrs Pedrotti, Ms. McDonald and Mrs Jarman have so expertly taken over the last 6 weeks. Mr. Ferrier brings a lot of experience and is looking forward to working with the students over the year.
Enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday.

Buddy Day

1/2 Griffiths
It’s wonderful to see how much progress our students have made in this first half of Term 1. Our young mathematicians in ½ Griffiths are working on understanding place value. They’re discovering how many hundreds; tens and ones make up different numbers. It’s an essential skill that sets a strong foundation for future math concepts.

Deadly Heart Trek
Our Bradshaw learners had a great time learning all about the human heart and all the ways to keep yourself healthy and thriving. Many students were excited to undergo a heart scan, curious with the equipment and even having the chance to do it themseves. A BIG thank you to Congress and the Heart Trek team for their visit and sharing their knowledge and expertise when it comes to keeping a healthy heart!

3 Jones
It's been a crazy start to the year in 3J with lots of getting to know each other and learning our daily routines. Nevertheless, 3J has gotten straight into learning and making the best start we can to a new year.
In literacy 3J have been learning how to expand our sentences and make them more interesting and informative by adding the 'where'. We have also been expanding our vocabularies, looking at words such as proud, migrate, relief and many others.
In HASS we have been looking at the book 'My Place', which follows the story of how an area in Sydney and how all the big events in Australia's history has effected its people. This has then helped to explore the changes to the Alice Springs Telegraph Station over time as well, seeing it's different uses over it's long history.
Lastly, 3J has also enjoyed our weekly CrossFit and Buddy Day. All students have made an excellent start and we can't wait to see the amazing growth everyone will have this year!
