term 3, week 7 and 9 2023
Principal Update
Werte Bradshaw Community,
Another huge few weeks of learning across the school. Walking around the school it is really encouraging to see how our students SHINE every day in their learning by finding ways to get involved while contributing to class conversations and asking questions.
Book week was a huge success, wonderfully organized by Ms. Nunez and Ms. Fahey. Every lunchtime we had prepared readings from students across the school. Students read so well and with so much expression, it was a pleasure to see. As a school, students, particularly in the early years, engage in daily paired fluency reading activities. It was clear from the confidence with which students read aloud that this work is having a positive impact with students’ reading. Well done kids! What a great way to SHINE while SHARING your readings with teachers and staff.
The Buddy book picnic was a huge success with lots of students bringing books from home to read out on the lawn. It is always nice to have students from across the school come together and to see the way older students really CARE for the younger ones by helping them with their reading or listening to them read.
The dress up at the end was a fantastic way to finish up the week.
We had school photos in week 6. As of yet we do not have a clear timeline on exactly when photos will be made available but look out for updates and they come through.
We welcomed a new relief teacher in last week. Ms. Godfrey-Roberts will be working across the school a couple of days a week. We are really excited that she has joined our team and we know she will be a great fit for Bradshaw. We are also excited to welcome Ms. Denyer to the school. It has been great getting to know these two wonderful teachers and seeing how CARING students have been by welcoming them in so warmly.
On Wednesday so many students represented Bradshaw beautifully on stage as part of Alice Can Dance. Through their confidence and positivity it was clear to see that Bradshaw students know how to SHINE in the arts.

Kiss And Go
The end of the day is very busy with lots of students to be picked up and busy parents trying to get back to work or drop kids off at afterschool activities. With this in mind, there are a few things to please keep in mind.
- If arriving at school before the end of the day, please find a carpark (there are usually some available) rather than wait in line at the kiss and go. This will help the line move more efficiently.
- Please do not call out for your child to jump the fence and get in the car at Kiss and Go from the street. This is danger to student safety and causes the Kiss and Go area to become quite disrupted.

Ampe Ankngerre 5 has been busy!
Throughout Term 3, 5T have been busy in all areas of their learning. We have explored different Artistic techniques using various materials in Art with Mrs. Wilson.
The class enjoyed their first whole school fitness led by our amazing Year 6’s. It is great being exposed to different outdoor games that we do not usually play.
In English and HASS, we have been completing our Natural disasters unit. Here the students are dissecting the book “Fire” from Jackie French.
The students also celebrated Book week. For one of the activities, we had a relaxing picnic outside on the front lawns with our Buddy class. It was so lovely seeing so many people enjoy reading.
We sadly said goodbye to two students from our class who will be missed, but we know they are off doing great things. We had a class party which meant there was lots of food and even more dancing. We love showing off all our successes, we can’t wait to share with you even more. Until next time, that’s all from us.

Ampe Mape 2 loves maths...
During Number Talks, Ampe Mape 2 have been working on applying strategies to a variety of word problems. The students were read a word problem and they had to use 1-2 different strategies that they have learnt previously. The students did a fantastic job and as you can see, the engagement was evident, and everyone had a go which is definitely SHINING! This was a fantastic number talk session because it allowed me to witness the strengths and confidence each student brings.
The students of Ampe Mape 2 love using their whiteboards during Number Talks as it allows deep thinking and that thinking we call…. “thinking out the box”!
AND WE LOVE MATHS IN 3L

Book week 2023
Bradshaw celebrated book week last week with our Reading Extravaganza held at lunch time in the Library with so many students who got to read out loud in front of an audience and shine! Picnic on the lawn saw buddy classes enjoying reading with eachother outside the classroom. We held our annual book swap where every student got to take home a book to enjoy and fall in love with reading. Our dress up day had many wonderful costumes from Clifford the dog, RMS Ocianana, the Lorax and even Cruella and her dalmations came to school. A fun and busy week had by all celebrating all things books, getting lost in stories and our own imagination.
Thanks so much to Mrs Amy N for all her hard work!

Trasition goes to the Telegraph Station
TG, TK and T/1 T had a fantastic morning at Old Telegraph Station. We walked up Trigg, toured the station and learned Arrernte words.

Ampe Mape 1's amazing learning...
3M has been busy with book week, swimming, and concert. This term has seen learning focused on strategies for adding, subtracting, and multiplying numbers in Maths. In literacy, there has been a strong focus around connection to first nations people and their culture through the books:Black Cockatoo and Come Together. We have also been learning how to write Information Reports and Persuasive Texts.
We even found time in between our busy learning schedule to go swimming! Here are some pictures from our fun time at the pool!
