Message From Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Bradshaw Primary School is delighted to welcome Mr Tim O’Sullivan on his appointment as Principal. Mr O’Sullivan may be a familiar face to many of you in his current role as Assistant Principal at Gillen Primary School and a long standing community member. He will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to value add to Bradshaw’s improvement journey in the years ahead. I am sure you will all join me in extending the very best wishes to Mr O’Sullivan.
This past fortnight has been a very busy time for our staff and students. There was an overwhelming response by students to enter in the school’s annual Talent Quest. This will be held next term and everyone is looking forward to experiencing the wonderful talent that our students possess. Last Friday, 40 students from Years 3-6 headed to Head Street Oval for the Interschool Athletics Carnival. The students did very well and should be proud of their achievements. Student-lead conferences over the last two weeks have been very successful. Parents have received valuable feedback regarding how their child is progressing. The mid-year Progress Reports have been sent out this week. If you have not received your child’s Report, please contact the school as soon as possible.
On Friday, we will say farewell to two teachers. Ms Amy Griffiths our Year 2 teacher will be leaving to go on Long Service Leave. Our Year 1 teacher, Ms Ambrie Tracy will be leaving to take up a teaching position at Minyerri School. In addition, and it is with great regret, we farewell Ms Jennie Ward who has resigned from her position as Assistant Principal. We wish all staff the very best in their future endeavours and thank them for their great work at Bradshaw.
This is my final newsletter as Principal of this wonderful school, Bradshaw Primary School. It has been an honour and great privilege to have had the opportunity to lead a community of extremely talented teachers and students over the past six months. I will take many fond memories of my time here with me and I thank you all for your tremendous support.

Acacia - Ampe 1
Ampe 1 have been learning about living things this term in science. The students have eagerly checked the seeds for signs of growth each day. They are learning to identify what part of the growth cycle the seed is at.
For comprehension this term, we have been learning about different animals. Did you know that Wombats are related to Koalas? Or that Sloths 2 long front teeth continuously grow?

Science
This term, the students have been working hard in science.
Year 5 and 6 students have been learning about electricity and how to make electrical circuits incorporating switches. This has culminated in them building their own creations including torches, fans, door buzzers and more. They will be demonstrating their devices for staff members in week 10.
Year 3 and 4 students have been learning about how heat energy moves from a warmer object to a cooler one. They have also been learning about how to use insulation to reduce the amount of heat that is lost. To close off the unit, they have made their own insulated cups that they will be drinking out of in week 10 while watching a movie.
Years 1 & 2 have been learning about sound. They have danced to demonstrate sound waves, experienced how sound can move through both air and solid objects. They have felt how sound causes vibrations on balloons.
The transition students have been exploring how different objects move in their environment. They’ve danced, bounced, run and rolled and even made some catapults!
