Week 7, Term 2, 2023
Message from Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
The cold season has really settled in over the past two weeks. The weather is fabulous, however, the low temperatures mean it is important that students bring a school jumper or jacket to use whilst at school.
With three weeks to go, we are fast approaching the end of Semester 1. So much learning and so many opportunities have occurred for students at Bradshaw Primary. It has been great to see the high level of engagement and the range of learning opportunities that are occurring both inside and outside the classroom. Parents will have the opportunity to learn more during the Student Learning Conference next week. If you have not arranged a time to meet your child’s teacher, please do so as soon as possible as slots are filling up fast. Please see further below in the newsletter for booking details.
This week, Year 6 students and teachers have spent three days away camping at the Ross River Resort. We look forward to sharing many photos and stories in the next Newsletter.
Also this week, the Early Childhood classes had a visit from Hector the Cat who spoke to them about road safety, the Year 3 and 4 students did a Writing Workshop with visiting author Gabrielle Wang and the Year 6 students learned about Government from members from the Parliamentary Education Centre in Darwin and Robyn Lambley, Independent member for Araluen. Bradshaw proudly offers diverse learning experiences for our students.
Teachers are also busy finalizing Student Reports. These will be handed out on Wednesday 21 June. Please let the school know if you do not receive your child’s report for any reason.
Over the last couple of weeks many of our talented Bradshaw students have been performing at the Eisteddfod. It is wonderful to see our students SHINE and we are proud of them for having the confidence to participate and for giving their best effort. Congratulations to those students who won their section or were awarded a place or Honorable Mention.
Finally, the Staff Professional Learning Day in Term 3 will now take place on Friday, 21st July, Week 1. On this day, staff will be collaborating to improve student’s outcomes in Mathematics through a common approach in teaching, learning, and assessing using a hands-on approach called the Learning Through Doing program. The Staff at Bradshaw Primary School welcome this opportunity to learn alongside each other. This will mean that Monday 17th July will be the first day of Term 3 and all students are required to return to school.

School Uniform reminder
A reminder to families that as per the school uniform policy, students are required to wear the correct school uniform each day. This includes the Bradshaw school shirt, navy shorts, skorts or trackpants and the Bradshaw jumper and jacket. Students should not come to school in other coloured jumpers, jackets etc.
We are also noticing that a number of students regulary do not have hats. All students require a hat to play outside at break times. Hats should remain at school in the classroom and be clearly labelled so it can be reunited when lost.
If your child does not have a Bradshaw jumper, jacket or hat, please visit the front office to purchase them. Hoodies are $45 and jackets are $50 and hats are $10.

On Monday Year 6 students were joined by members from the Parliamentary Education Centre in Darwin and Robyn Lambley, Independent member for Araluen. Students participated in a role play session involving writing a bill and how a bill is passed in parliament. The students enjoyed the opportunity to further understand levels of government in Australia and be able to talk to a member of the Northern Territory Government.

4/5 Marzohl - ampe akngerre 5
In Ampe Akngerre 5, 4/5M have been researching factors affecting patterns of Australia’s settlements and discovering where people live. Did you know that we live in the least populated climate zone in Australia? We’ve also been cartographers and creating our own maps and writing directional clues to find secret locations. We’ve been exploring hands-on games to practice our skills in Maths. This week our class favourite is First to 100. We’d love to teach you how to play!
We are creating our own Brain Breaks in between our learning and Kyan and AJ were the Rock, Paper, Scissors champions. Sports Day was awesome and we encouraged each other to do our best and have fun.
