Week 5, Term 2, 2023
Message from Principal
Dear families
Wasn’t it a great day on Friday with our students enjoying Sport’s Day. So much energy, enthusiasm, barracking and supporting each other the Bradshaw way. Congratulations to Alkere for your win this year. It was lovely to see so many families come along and join in the fun.
Our mums were also celebrated last week. The Transition classes held a breakfast and 5T invited their special people to a brunch. Lots of gifts were also purchased at the Mother’s Day stall. We hope all mums were spoilt on Sunday as they are such an important part of our lives.
This week at Staff Meeting, teachers were discussing and reflecting on our whole school approach to behaviour support. At Bradshaw, we want students to care, share and shine. This involves helping them to understand what this looks like in the classroom and out in the playground so we can teach them and celebrate when we see our values being lived. Our bubble cards are one way we celebrate student achievement and classes also use other acknowledgement systems.
Student Learning Conferences are being held on Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th of June. This is an opportunity for the student, teacher and parents/carers to sit together and celebrate the learning of their child. It is also a time to set goals for second semester so we are always focused on how we can improve our learning. More information will be sent home soon.
With the colder weather upon us, it is important to make sure all students have a named Bradshaw school jumper. The Education Department have a school uniform policy which states that uniforms are compulsory. Alternative jumpers, apart from a plain navy jumper, are not supported.
The colder weather also makes us hungrier and students who are hungry find it difficult to concentrate. A good breakfast and plenty of nutritious food for school will put your child in the best position for learning.
Warm regards, Jennie Ward
Assistant Principal

Bradshaw Snapshot
Transition Gill - ampe akweke 3
These ampe akweke's have been so busy this term so far! We have been learning about the celebrations and traditions of different countries around the world. We have looked at Japanese Children's Day and made Koi windsocks, Chinese New Year, and cannot wait to discover what tradition we uncover next.
Our literacy has been focussed on expanding sentences with the Who, What, When and Where. Students have become great at identifying sentences which don't contain enough detail. Our RWI lessons have been amazing!! Students are learning more sounds each day, decoding when reading, decoding when writing, and fluent reading practice.
In maths we have covered many topics! We're continuing to develop our understanding of numbers to 10, number sequencing, location, sorting and comparing the length of things.
Our discovery learning sessions are becoming more complex. Students are engaging in both academic and play based activities with their peers. The conversations, the expanding vocabulary, the sharing skills, the engagement...wow! They have come so far in the development of all of these skills.
Well done on an incredible first half of Term 2. Let's see what the next 5 weeks brings.

Year 2/3 Spencer-Wright - ampe mape 3
We can’t believe it’s already week 5! We are enjoying learning about different countries, looking at famous landmarks and different cultures and traditions. In math we’ve rolled up our sleeves and have been busy working on our measurement skills. We’ve had some interesting experiments with units of measurement and agree that standard units of measurement are the most reliable! We all brought our best to sports day, with everyone showing great sportsmanship. We cheered hard, supported each other, and gave each event our all in the lead up to the big day.
