Week 9, Term 1, 2023
Message From Principal
I hope that this newsletter finds you well as we head towards Easter.
Last week we had a visit from the Deputy Chief Executive, Mr Saeed Amin. He was very impressed with the layout of the school, the teaching and learning evident in classes he visited and the very positive feel throughout the school.
For the past week and a half students in Year 3 and Year 5 have participated in NAPLAN, all their assessments have been completed online except writing for Year 3. Average attendance of students has been high with 86% of Year 3 and 93% of Year 5 students attending on those days. Thanks to the teachers who administered the tests and the students for giving their best efforts. Well done!
Last Friday we celebrated Harmony Day with an extra special school assembly with cultural performances, special Harmony Day awards and so many families who came to be part of the celebrations. A big thank you to the Malayalam community, Pertame School and The Language School for their special performances.
Have a great remainder of the week and I look forward to having a chat about any programs or school improvement ideas you may want to share.

Energy Drinks at school
Recently we have been made aware that some students are bringing and consuming Prime energy drinks at school. In some cases, these energy drinks are being shared with other students. Energy drinks, including 'Prime' products are not recommended for children under 15 years of age and are not permitted at Bradshaw Primary School. We would appreciate if you could discuss this issue with your child and ensure that they do not bring any energy drinks to school. We thank you for your support.
Kiss n Go and Parking Reminders
To help make drop off's and pick up's run smoothly and safetly please read the following reminders.
- Please do not park your car in the Kiss n Go areas between 8:00am and 8:30am in the mornings and between 2:50pm and 3:15pm in the afternoons. If you need to walk your child into school, please park in one of the designated parking spaces.
- In the afternoons please do not arrive at the Kiss n Go before 2:55pm. This allows students the time to leave their classes and get to Kiss n Go and eases traffic congestion.
- Children must enter vehicles from the curb side in the pick-up area. They are not allowed to walk around to the right side of the car.
- Drivers must stay in the vehicle when using the Kiss n Go area so that traffic flows easily. If you need to strap your child into a car seat, please park in one of the designated parking spaces.
- It is an offence to park on the yellow lines along Adamson Ave and Flynn Dr. These are specific no stopping areas.
- If dropping your child off near the school gate on the Flynn Oval side please do not stop in the middle of the crossing to drop students off. The crossing is for students to use to cross the road safely. Please use the parking bays further down.
Thank you for your support in these matters.

Year 3 McGregor - ampe mape 1
In 3M we finally celebrated the end of NAPLAN testing last week and students did a tremendous job in doing their best. Last week also saw students celebrate Harmony Day. As part of this, students decorated a feather with their buddy. In Arrernte language classes, students have been learning to trace animal footprints using sand. In Mentor Text students have been studying the book ‘My Place’ and the significant events that have changed and shaped Australia over time. Finally, students have been learning how to create the fractions ½, 1/3 and ¼ using coloured paper as well as locate and place fractions on a number line.
