Week 7, Term 1, 2023
Message From Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
NAPLAN (the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is a national test undertaken by Year 3 and 5 students at Bradshaw Primary School. It is designed to provide information on your child’s literacy and numeracy achievements. NAPLAN testing commenced this week on Wednesday and students have been working hard and demonstrating their knowledge and skills. Testing will continue until Friday 24 March so there is time for students who are absent to do the tests they have missed. We hope to receive the results in Term 2 and your child’s result will allow you to see how your child is progressing against expected standards. The results are also used to improve teaching and learning for all students. Your child’s teacher will analyse and evaluate the NAPLAN results along with other diagnostic testing results to write programs and tasks that individualise learning to improve learning outcomes.
There was a wonderful turnout of Parents and Carers at the Parent Information Night last week. Early Childhood families came along to hear from our dedicated and experienced teachers about Bradshaw approaches to literacy and numeracy instruction. If you have any queries or would like to know more, please contact your child’s teacher.
Next Friday 24 March is Harmony Day and we will be organizing a special Assembly. Please join us in recognizing and celebrating the diversity of our Bradshaw Community. Students are encouraged to either wear an orange coloured item of clothing or wear their cultural clothes.
Please enjoy the coming weeks as we head to Easter and look after yourselves.

Early pick-ups and messages
To avoid disrupting lessons with PA announcements we are asking parents who pick up their children for appointments etc to please sign them out at the office and collect your child from the classroom. Please give yourself enough time if you have an appointment to get to.
Also please make sure that your child knows how they are getting home each day rather than phoning the office to pass on messages. If however plans change, please contact the office before 2pm so that the message can be delivered on time.

Year 3 Liddle - ampe mape 2
This week the wonderful students in Ampe Mape 2, Miss Liddle began our NAPLAN journey. This was the first time for us all and we were very excited but of course a little bit nervous. We have completed our Writing and Reading tests.
Miss Liddle reminded us that we just need TO DO OUR BEST! Next week we have two more tests to complete.

Year 6 M'Nijel - ampe akngerre 3
6M has been studying the novel Holes, learning lots of different vocabulary words, practicing writing Narrative and working on addition problems in maths.
We have been having a lot of fun with our buddy class, learning Japanese and we even interviewed a journalist about what her job is like 😊

Year 4/5 Marzohl - ampe akngerre 5
In ampe akngerre 5, 4/5 Marzohl we have started the year focusing on our growth mindset and thriving to be our best selves. We have enjoyed activities with our Transition Buddies and introducing them to our class pets. We made sunflowers for the end of Summer fun. We saved some praying mantis’ and while they recovered from injury, they laid eggs, and we are now waiting for our egg sac to hatch. We are expecting about 400 babies!
Our favourite learning activity so far as voted by students is… STARJUMP Spelling! 😊
