Leadership Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
Students have settled quickly into learning and classrooms are busy with calm, purposeful learning. Some students will even tell you that they have done a spelling test this week, completed their first writing sample. Important at Bradshaw is the effort in the first three weeks to build relationships as a class, with peers, with the teacher and classroom support staff, learn classroom routines and understand the expectations for learning. Already there have been so many positive, enthusiastic comments about the start of school from families, students and staff.
We are happy to welcome this week Miss Christy Su to the Bradshaw family as our new P.E teacher. We are still seeking to recruit a Year 2 teacher and hope to have positive news in the near future.
Our Meet the Teacher was a success last Thursday and it was wonderful to see parents, carers and students attend. I enjoyed meeting with many parents, receiving very positive feedback about our school, teachers and students. A huge thank you to our staff who worked hard to organize the marvelous barbeque afterwards.
In 2023, regular attendance at school continues to be priority for all Department of Education schools. At Bradshaw, we are aiming to have all students at school every day. We realise that at times students are sick and are therefore unable to attend. Students who attend school 90% of the time across a year miss approximately 20 days of school per year. This means they are away a week each term. When students are absent, they miss important learning opportunities. It has been great to see some of our classes with 100% attendance this week.
Our school council is made up of parents and teacher and they are an important governance body in our school. We have a fantastic group of parents on Council. We love to also see new parents joining council as it helps to build and grow our wonderful school. Our School Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday 1st March at 5.30 pm in the School Library. A general meeting will follow the AGM. If you want more information or are interested in joining, please come and chat with me at school or come to the AGM.
This year NAPLAN is starting on 15th March, which is much earlier than in previous years. This will involve our Year 3 and 5 students and they are preparing now to demonstrate their skills in literacy and numeracy. Please see the below link for more information.
Kind regards
Amit Kundu
Principal

Bradshaw Snapshot
Year 4 Dorfman - ampe akngerre 2
Ampe Akngerre 2 (4D) has been very busy getting started on a big year of learning. The students learnt about the different Aboriginal language groups in Australia and have each written their own Acknowledgement of Country, which has been turned into a class book. In addition, we have started doing music sessions together with the other Year 4 class, and Miss Z even brought out her Djembe!

Year 1 Abel - ampe akweke 4
We have had an awesome start of the year in Ampe Akweke 4. We have been reading Wombat Stew and have been learning how to construct simple sentences with nouns and verbs. In Maths, we have been investigating number 5. We have been learning about all the ways to represent and make 5 through hands on partner activities. In SEL, we have been learning about our bodies and how they feel. We have been exploring this through our ALERT Program and labelling when our bodies feel fast, slow or just right.

Year 2 Warner - ampe-mape 5

End of Summer Buddy Fun Day
Next Friday, 24th February we will be celebrating the End of Summer with our first Buddy event. Students can come to school in their summer clothes. There will Buddy activities during the day and a school disco in the JT Hall!
You won't want to miss it!

Family Contributions & Back to School Vouchers
Family Contributions
If you haven't yet paid your family contribution, please do so by the end of term.
The annual Family Contributions are as follows:
- One child enrolled: $100
- Two children enrolled: $175
- Three or more children enrolled: $250
- Low income family: $50 per student (max $150 per family)
This represents excellent value at around $2.50 per week per child. The school relies on family contributions to ensure high quality resources are available in classrooms and to assist with purchasing classroom consumables, subsidising incursions and travel for excursions. Please see the Front Office, contributions can be made using Cash and Eftpos.
Back to School Vouchers
Back to School Vouchers ($150) are available for each student. If you have not yet redeemed your BTS Voucher please visit the Front office. BTS Vouchers can be used for Uniforms, camps, swimming, excursions. BTS Vouchers cannot be used towards Family Contributions and must be redeemed in Term 1.
