Leadership Update
Werte Bradshaw families,
It is my pleasure to introduce my first newsletter as Principal of Bradshaw Primary School. I thank staff, students and families for their warm welcome.
I hope that all our families have had a relaxing, joyous and safe summer break and a big welcome back to the new school year. The first week of 2023 has gone by quickly—both students and staff working hard and enjoying being back together. How fantastic to see many excited faces walk through our school gates to start a fresh new year. Crisp uniforms, new school bags, lunch boxes, shiny shoes, school hats—our students shone this week!
In the first couple of weeks of school the main work in the classrooms is helping students learn the routines and expectations of how we learn and behave at school. Our teachers have put together lessons to teach kids about diversity and inclusivity, to help our students learn how to enact our values: Care, Share, Shine in everything they do!
We also welcome a number of new teachers to Bradshaw,
- Ambrie Tracy—Year 1 teacher
- Kelly Twine—Transition and Year 1 teacher
- Rebecca Keily—Transition teacher
- Zoe Zabilowicz - Year 4 Teacher
- Lee Young—Year 5 teacher
- Maddie McGregor – Year 3 teacher
Over the summer holiday our school worked hard to recruit two more teachers and our efforts continue. While our searches go on, we have all staff giving 100% effort and showing flexibility with taking on additional teaching responsibilities. It’s truly been ‘all hands-on deck’ beginning to the year!
Last year, due to COVID, we were unable to have the Meet the Teacher night on the second week of school. This year we are delighted to be able to invite our families to visit their children’s’ classes and come together for a BBQ afternoon. Next week, Thursday February 9, 4-6pm, we will open our school and classrooms for families to come and visit, meet the teacher, have a look around the classroom, marvel at their kids’ achievements from the first couple of weeks of school and enjoy a community BBQ. We look forward to this opportunity to connect with you!
An important change at Bradshaw this year: our school assemblies have been moved from Wednesday to Friday mornings. Our first assembly will be next week and all families are invited to join.
2023 is going to be a good year! Looking forward to a year of learning and coming together.

WELL we have started our year with a POSITIVE attitude. During the week we have set our routines, made our class rules, welcomed new students, made new friends and gotten to know each other on different levels. We have been revisiting the Bradshaw Learner Qualities and Bradshaw School Values and completing activities relating to them all. We have been enjoying getting to know our teacher and our new classroom space.
Looking forward to a GREAT YEAR.

Family Contributions & Back to School Vouchers
Family Contributions
If you haven't yet paid your family contribution, please do so by the end of term.
The annual Family Contributions are as follows:
- One child enrolled: $100
- Two children enrolled: $175
- Three or more children enrolled: $250
- Low income family: $50 per student (max $150 per family)
This represents excellent value at around $2.50 per week per child. The school relies on family contributions to ensure high quality resources are available in classrooms and to assist with purchasing classroom consumables, subsidising incursions and travel for excursions. Please see the Front Office, contributions can be made using Cash and Eftpos.
Back to School Vouchers
Back to School Vouchers ($150) are available for each student. If you have not yet redeemed your BTS Voucher please visit the Front office. BTS Vouchers can be used for Uniforms, camps, swimming, excursions. BTS Vouchers cannot be used towards Family Contributions and must be redeemed in Term 1.
Meet the Teacher Thursday 9th February

Thursday is Subway day!
Subway is back up and running at Bradshaw!! Subway day is Thursday each week. Order forms are available from classrooms.
Subway order forms must be completed with name clearly written and placed in a zip lock bag, along with the correct change. Families with multiple children can put all their order forms (one form per child) together in the one bag with the correct money, in one class box (oldest sibling). Subway will return the order in the correct class boxes.
Students are to place their orders into their class box before 8:45am Thursday morning. Orders are then delivered fresh to school in time for lunch.

Attendance
It is important that every student is at school every day. Our goal at Bradshaw is 90% attendance.
Please notify the front office when your child will not be at school. This can be done by phoning us on 8955 2100 or by email to bradshaw.school@education.nt.gov.au

School Council
In the coming weeks we will be holding our Bradshaw Primary School Council AGM. Our School Council is made up of elected Parent and Staff members and is an active and interesting space to have your input into the school improvement. There will be vacancies for parent members so please consider this as it’s a great way to be involved in your child’s education.
Look out for more information regarding our AGM and nominations in the next newsletter and on Facebook.
