Week 7, Term 4, 2022
Leadership Update
It’s the end of Week 7 and only 14 school days left. Staff are focussed on finalising reports, preparing for end of year celebrations, designing classes for next year and making sure that every day is full with learning.
A highlight in the coming weeks is the Preschool Graduation on Wednesday 7 December and the Year 6 Graduation on Thursday 8 December. These are important milestone events where we celebrate the successes and achievements of all our students as they transition to the next stage in their education. At the end of this newsletter is a list of all the school events over the next couple of weeks. Information is also shared through the school website, notes home and via our school Facebook page.
At our assembly this Wednesday, awards will be presented to students who have excelled in Literacy, STEM and LOTE. Families of award winners will be notified via text so they can share in the proud parent moment with their child and our school community.
Class list are currently being created for next year. If you have any information that needs to be considered for your child’s class placement, please contact the Principal or Assistant Principals with this by Friday 2 December.
Our fundraising Walk-a-thon was a huge success with nearly $6,000 raised for playground improvements. Our next event is the Christmas raffle and families are being asked to donate goods to make up Christmas Hampers. Raffle tickets will be sent home soon, with the raffle drawn at our Buddy Christmas Celebration on Monday 12 December. Thank you in advance for your support in providing raffle items and for the sale of tickets.
We made the call out to the community for help after the recent big storm. The school yard was a mess with branches and fallen trees and unsafe for our students. THANK YOU to those amazing staff and families who heard our call for help and were here with chain saws, blowers, rakes and muscle power to move logs and branches so that the school could reopen on Monday. We have an incredible school community who is there to help in these times of great need.
There will be a number of staff changes next year. We are farewelling the following staff who are looking for new opportunities and adventures in 2023 - Kate Pendle, Lucy Manchester, Mel Stubbings, Sharon Markham, Lachlan Rinkin, Lexie O’Brien, Brian Pierce, Marissa Priestly, Tom Heggan, Wendy Bardsley, Jazmine Storey, Julla Lisati, Suelisa Lisati, Katie Lines, Sharlee Clarke and Pat Anderson. Some staff are travelling to explore close and far off destinations, while others are spreading their wings to relocate out of Alice. There will also be a change to the principal with Michele Turk not continuing in next year. Our school community will be able to farewell staff at our assembly in Week 10. You are all invited!
Staff recruitment started in term 3 and we will be welcoming a number of new teachers, school leaders, administration and classroom support staff in the new year. Look out for our Facebook farewells to the staff who are leaving and our welcome and hello to the new staff who are joining us. There are some teacher positions still to be filled. Please share our vacancies advertised via our Facebook page with your networks interstate. Word of mouth works!
Our School Survey report was shared at the recent School Council meeting. One of the most positive responses from students (97%), staff (98%) and parents (95%) was that “Teachers at this school expect my child to do their best”. There was a discussion on how to improve School Community engagement and increased input into School Council. Just 59% of parents “feel that they have a say in the school and its education programs to the extent that they wish”. We know that MORE parents want an opportunity to share their opinion. What are your ideas for improving our sharing of opinion? Either speak with the principal, Michele Turk, the School Council Chairperson, Deborah Micallef or send an email to Bradshaw.school@education.nt.gov.au with your ideas. We would love to know your thoughts on how to involve more families in school decsision making.
It is a busy few weeks ahead. It is important to keep yourself up to date with everything that is happening with your child at school. Our school website, newsletter, Facebook page and notes home are where you will find all the school news.
Enjoy our unseasonal cool weather this weekend.

Transition/Year 1 Markham Price
T/1MP students have been writing narratives this term. They have really enjoyed thinking of a character, setting, problem and solution. It has been exciting to see students develop their writing skills and grow in confidence and creativity.

School Council
At our School Council meeting last week we discussed the fundraising activities and improvements to the buildings and grounds. It was decided that we need a concept for our junior play ground so that improvements are planned and purposeful. If you have an idea of someone who is able to conceptualised and design our junior playground, please let us know.
Monday 12th December at 5:30pm in the School Library will be the last School Council Meeting of 2022. Our School Council is made up of elected members and staff however parents are also welcome to join the meeting as an 'Observer'.
See you there!
