Leadership Update
Werte Bradshaw families,
As this weekend rolls around we are officially on the downwards slope as there are only 5 weeks of school left. Although some places are geared up for Christmas and already set up for holidays, we are not taking our foot off the pedal here at Bradshaw with our learning and behaviour expectations!
While there is no doubt that schools are all about teaching our students how to read, write and solve Math problems, there is a huge body of work that staff and families do to build a strong community spirit so that we nurture our children’s sense of belonging and in return they feel safe and settled in their learning. Let’s have a look at some of these things that are happening across Bradshaw at the moment…
Huge shout out to Leisa Cousins, Amy Nunez and all other staff who supported the library with the annual book fair last week. Student hallway conversations about which books they wanted to get or which stationery items were the most exciting were fantastic. Check out some of the photos from the Book Fair in the newsletter.
Our Walkathon fundraising event was beyond a success! Our School Council members—staff, and families, came together to show case the Bradshaw spirit of perseverance and generosity. Did you know? During the walkathon:
- School students walked a combined 2000 laps
- This is the same as 800 km (half way to Darwin!)
- LOTS of students brought in money!
- Some students brought in their pocket money!
- Some students went to great lengths to raise money across the community.
In this incredible effort the school raised $6,981! This will come a long way in building new sandpits for our school. Watch this space!
It was just great to have our School Chair, Deborah Micallef, join our special Walkathon assembly and celebrate the money we raised. I’m inviting all parents to consider joining our School Council next year and have a chance to be part of a proactive group of families and parents who do a great job advocating for the betterment of our school. You are welcome to come and attend our next School Council meeting as a guest. Our next meeting will be on the 21st of November at 5.30pm in the library.
What a disco we had last night! Thank you DJ Rinkin for pumping up the music! The students busted out the moves on the dance floor and the 70s themed costumes were amazing. It was also a lovely chance to see so many people from our school community come together for the joint BBQ—the family vibes filled our hearts. A very big shout out to the Student Representative Council for running this fundraiser. Our SRCs are always looking for ways to improve the school by bringing forward a range of student voices and ideas.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

What's Been Happening At Bradshaw...
Transition Stubbings
In Transition we have been learning all about our bodies and how they function. We have learnt lots about our organs, bones and muscles.

Year 3/4 Marzohl
3/4M has had an amazing half of Term 4. The Year 3s all loved the sleepover with the water fight being a highlight. We have been enjoying visits with our transition buddies and are already practicing for the Christmas Concert together. We had a lot of enthusiastic participants for the Walkathon. This week we were lucky to have Mr Amundson, a pre-service teacher from Adelaide, helping us with our learning. Sid the guinea pig is a very popular new member of our class. In Civics and Citizenship, we have been learning about our democratic system of government and presenting our ideas for what we would do if we were the Prime Minister of Australia. And of course, the disco was so much fun with DJ Rinks!

Attendance

School Attendance YTD%
It is important that every student is at school every day. Our goal at Bradshaw is 90% attendance.
Please notify the front office when your child will not be at school. This can be done by phoning us on 8955 2100 or by email to bradshaw.school@education.nt.gov.au

School Council
The next meeting of School Council is on Monday, 21st November at 5.30pm in the library. All parents are welcome to the meeting which runs for about 1 hour covering the Principal's Report, Treasurer's Report and the Reports from the Sub-Committees. Our School Council is an active and interesting space to have your input into the school improvement.

2023 Transition Family Information Night

Interschool Swimming Carnival

Not returning to Bradshaw 2023??
We are currently working on our workforce planning and class structures for 2023. For this to be successful we need to be sure if our current students are going to be attending Bradshaw Primary School next year.
Please advise the Front Office ASAP if your child/children will NOT be returning in 2023.
Road safety reminder to families
Families are reminded not to park along the yellow lines on both Flynn Dr and Adamson Ave. These roads are very busy during drop off and pick up times and visability is not clear for both staff on the school crossing, and traffic when cars are parked along the yellow lines.
Our staff are always present on both the school crossings and will be happy to assist students to cross safetly.
