Leadership Update
Our week 1 Newsletter offered a comprehensive picture of the amazing events and programs being offered to our students through term 4. We have a mixture of fun, the arts, music and exercise! Something for everyone!
BUT don’t worry….LEARNING is still our number 1 priority and we will keep this focus strong throughout term 4 to ensure our Bradshaw learners are fully prepared for their next step on their learning journey.
The Professional Learning day on Friday 28th October has a strong literacy focus. Ioana Suciu, our Assistant Principal has dedicated an enormous amount of time in planning a highly informative day where staff will focus on the teaching of vocabulary as a critical part of a literacy program.
This term, classes are engaged in using “Mentor text” (book) as a vehicle to engaging students in an integrated style of learning. The mentor text provides a platform for all sorts of learning including reading comprehension, grammar, sentence structure as well as having a geography, science or history focus. Unfortunately, there isn’t room to detail all our classes learning plans for this term but I do know the Year 5 students are loving their text “We Are Wolves” by Katrina Nannestad. This novel is about a family caught in the war between Russia and Prussia. The family face all sorts of problems and ethical dilemmas. Have a look below at how the talented Year 5 teachers are using this novel to teach many aspects of learning.
Great learning is certainly alive and well at Bradshaw and in the talented hands of our teachers, our students can count on an engaging and motivating style of learning.

Whats Been Happening At Bradshaw...
Transition Fahey
Do you love learning? Yes, we do! Transition Fahey have been busy in Maths this week learning about Data. They have been asking lots of questions and representing their findings in different ways. Students then made statements about their results.

Year 1 Abel
Year 1A have had an amazing start to Term 4. In Literacy, we have been reading the book ‘My City Speaks.’ We have been unpacking the special places that are in cities and why these places are important. We are very excited to be building our own city next week out of recycled materials. In Maths we have been ordering and sorting numbers correctly on number lines, to build strong number sense. 1A have been trying hard to follow our school value ‘We Learn with Others’ by trying to solve our own problems kindly, before seeking a teacher or adult.

Year 3 O'Brien
Year 3 had their much-awaited sleepover!
The night was filled with sports, snacks, twister and even a disco! Students enjoyed spending the night at school and being the only students here.
After all the fun and excitement (and not enough sleep), students went home tired with a smile on their dials!

Walkathon
What A Wonderful Walkathon!
Thursday morning was a wonderful example of Bradshaw at it’s best and most enthusiastic! More than 500 staff and students put on their walking shoes to raise money for two new sandpits.
Fluro shirts and outfits shone everywhere as students and staff walked or ran around the school.
There were 37 prize winners for the most laps achieved in each class. Ruby and Daniel in 5/6P achieved the highest number at 11 laps!
AND now the important part….a lot of money was brought in on the day. THANK YOU. Students have a full school week to bring in their sponsor money. All money needs to be at school by next FRIDAY 4th NOVEMBER. Any amount will be welcomed. $1.00 is better than no dollars. And that way everyone has contributed towards the sandpit.
Thanks also go to Carolyn Donovan, Mrs Mapstone and Aunty Shannan for their help on the day.

The winners will be announced at a World Teachers Day event on Friday afternoon.
A special thank you to the families who provided tasty treats for the staff Morning Tea your kindness is appreciated.

NAPLAN
Our NAPLAN results for 2022 are some of the best ever for Bradshaw!
In both Year 3 and Year 5, across all areas – Maths, Reading, Writing, Spelling and Grammar and Punctuation, Bradshaw are closer to the Australian mean than we have been in a long time. Take a look at the selection of data below.
This is an outcome of teaching excellence across all stages of schooling starting with our preschool and the foundations that they lay for formal learning. Our teachers have met to review our NAPLAN data and to think about our approaches which has led to these results.
We are incredibly proud of the effort of all our students at Bradshaw!

School Council
The next meeting of School Council is on Monday, 21st November at 5.30pm in the library. All parents are welcome to the meeting which runs for about 1 hour covering the Principal's Report, Treasurer's Report and the Reports from the Sub-Committees.
