Leadership Update
Term 4 Week 1
Wow! What a way to start Term 4. Another fantastic Bradshaw concert and art show was enjoyed by family and friends last night at the Marian Centre. Congratulations to staff and students, lead capably and enthusiastically by Ms Fahey and Miss Wilson, for their commitment to engaging in the Arts and producing quality work for all to enjoy. Other Arts performances are coming up this term for some of our students so keep an eye out for information about the BEAT and Alice Can Dance shows.
There is a lot happening at Bradshaw this term so watch out for notes, check the school website (link below) or Facebook page (link below), contact the teacher, email Bradshaw.school@education.nt.gov.au or call the front office for information. So far we have:
Week 1 – Concert & Art show
Week 2 – Year 3 sleepover
Week 3 – Walkathon
Week 4 – Book Fair
Week 5 – Disco, excursion for Preschool and Year 1
Week 7 – BEAT BOX incursion (no charge to families)
Week 9 – Preschool and Year 6 Graduation
Week 10 – Buddy Christmas Celebrations
Teachers will be completing assessments and writing reports this term and we will begin to look at class structure for 2023. Please advise the front office if your family is leaving Bradshaw and won’t be here next year. Also, encourage anyone who hasn’t enrolled their child to do so as soon as possible.
Bradshaw supports the NT Music School who provide instrumental and singing lessons at school for students in Year 4 – Year 6. Enrolment applications for 2023 can now be accessed from the NT Music School website. If your child is interested, get in quick as spaces fill due to the popularity of the program.
NAPLAN results were sent home this week to families of Year 3 and Year 5 students and we congratulate everyone on their amazing achievements. NAPLAN results indicate how well schools are achieving academically, compared to schools across Australia. Between 2021 and 2022, in all areas (Writing, Reading, Grammar and Punctuation, Spelling and Numeracy) Bradshaw’s average moved closer to the National average. In Year 3 Writing and Spelling, Bradshaw’s average was almost the same as the National average. This is testament to the dedicated teachers and excellent learning programs provided at Bradshaw. In 2023, NAPLAN testing is being brought forward to March, which is earlier than usual. This is so teachers have the time to use the results to plan their teaching, based on what students demonstrate they know and need to know. If you are interested there is a public demonstration site with NAPLAN question samples (Link below).
Here's to a fabulous Term 4 at Bradshaw!
Kind regards,
Jennie Ward
Assistant Principal

This week 2/3R have been focusing on place value in Maths! We have been learning and exploring lots of different games including this one, ‘The Three Little Pigs + The Big Bad Wolf’.

Year 5 Usher
5U hit the ground running, and are very enthusiastically beginning our unit based on the novel We are Wolves.
We practiced using atlases to find European countries, to make a reference map for the term.

In Transition Manchester we have been learning the sound ‘b’. B is for BUTTERFLY. We have enjoyed colouring our butterflies, using symmetry and patterns to make them look BRIGHT and BEAUTIFUL.
