Leadership Update
Hello Bradshaw families,
Last week many students participated in the School Councils’ hot dog lunch fundraiser. We raised an amazing $850. Also, it was fabulous to see students dressed up in their favourite sports clothes for our Act of Kindness Day. Students were encouraged to bring a gold coin so we were able to raise $380. The money raised from both events will go towards the purchase of a running frame which helps children with mobility issues participate in running and walking events. Thank you for your support of these events.
I recently met with some families to talk about some behaviour concerns. These discussions have led to a chat about the types of games and videos children watch at home – I wanted to share some of the information from the Australian Government’s Australian Classification Board with you:
- Games and videos with a G classification are suitable for everyone. Some great games ideas for children that are G rated are Roblox, MarioKart and Minecraft.
- Games and videos with a PG are not recommended for people under the age of 15 as the content may be confusing or upsetting. Note some of the Roblox and Minecraft games can be classified as PG.
- Games and videos with an M classification are not recommended for people under the age of 15 as the content may contain violence and themes not suited to young children. Note that Fortnite is rated M.
Research has found that over time, playing violent video games has caused kids to think more aggressively and behave more aggressively. Please consider these classification guidelines when looking at purchasing games for your children. You may also like to check on the videos your child is watching on YouTube.
You can read about this further at https://www.classification.gov.au/
As the weather begins to warm up don’t forget all children are required to wear a bucket hat when they are outside. Please ensure your child has a bucket hat in their bags or with them at school. These are available at the front office for $10. Students who do not have a hat at recess or lunchtime will need to go to the library or undercover area to play – there are plenty of fun things to do in the library.

Whats Been Happening At Bradshaw...
Year 4 Pierce
It has been a big Term 3 for 4P! We started the term with an excursion to Hartley St School and Adelaide House. We had camp in week 4 and have worked hard on our dancing skills to get ready for the concert. We have had the first reader to read 1 million words this year and we have been able to spend quality time with school mates across multiple years in shared activities.

Acacia Cheetahs
Students from the Cheetah class did an information report on a topic of their choice this term.

Acacia Dinosaurs
It has been a very busy term in the Dinosaurs class. We have been attending weekly horse-riding lessons and the boys have thoroughly enjoyed it. They have become very confident on the horse and have even been returning from their walks sitting backwards on the horses!!
We have been working enhancing our fine motor and critical thinking skills by playing games such as Jenga, Pick-up Sticks and by creating some amazing Marble run creations. The favourite game is the Humpty Dumpty Wall game.

School Concert & Art Show
Due to the Public Holiday next week our new School Concert date is now Thursday 13th October (Week 1, Term 4). Notes and fliers have gone home this week, please look out for them as there is important details about both the concert and the rehearsals taking place on the 13th Oct.
Consent forms to attend the concert rehearsal went home on Wednesday and need to be returned to the Front Office as soon as possible. There are more than 450 notes to be returned - one for every student from Transition to Year 6.
School Council will also be running a sausage sizzle from 5-6pm, if you would like to volunteer and help out please contact the Front Office.

School Council
The next meeting of School Council is on Monday, 19th September at 5.30pm in the library. All parents are welcome to the meeting which runs for about 1 hour covering the Principal's Report, Treasurer's Report and the Reports from the Sub-Committees. Our School Council is an active and interesting space to have your input into the school improvement.
Parents are welcome and invited to join the Sub Committees of School Council. Please contact the secretary Ioana Suciu (who is also an AP) to register your interest in the Finance, Fundraising or Buildings & Grounds subcommittee.
If you have any queries regarding School Council matters please feel free to email our School Council email address - bradshaw.council@education.nt.gov.au
Kiss n Go Safety
To improve safety at Kiss n Go, barriers will be in place next week around the student waiting area so that the footpath is clear, visibility is improved and students are safely away from approaching vehicles. It can be quite hectic with many students and many cars.
Families are asked to arrive at Kiss n Go after 2.55pm as this gives students time to get from their classrooms. Cars stopping at Kiss n Go for more than a few minutes causes a line up on Adamson Ave. There is staff supervision at Kiss n Go until 3.15pm.
Come join the team!
