Leadership Update
Werte Bradshaw families,
Bradshaw—a school where we value students’ personal talents!
Last week we celebrated Book Week. The theme for this year was ‘Dreaming with Eyes Open’. Our organising team lead by our incredible Librarian, Ms Leisa, organised a number of exciting events including a dress up parade during a special assembly. There were many families in the audience on this special Friday assembly—it was just great to see the level of parental engagement. Families are welcome at all assemblies which usually take place every second Wednesday. There is no doubt that one of the highlights was the Bradshaw Can Read Extravaganza in the library! Students chose favourite passages in books and read aloud to their peers and a panel of experts! More than 60 students participated in this opportunity to practice reading on stage!
We also welcomed dancers from The Australian Ballet who ran workshops for classes across our school and they performed a spectacular piece for the entire school. School staff praised the high quality workshops. The smiles on students’ faces and levels of engagement were a testament to this.
The ballet workshops took place at perfect timing—just as all classes and teachers are getting ready to rehearse for school concert. This year’s school concert theme is 'Bright Ideas'. Watch out for any notes going home over the next week or two about costumes, props etc. Mark the following date in your calendar for the concert at the Marion Centre: Thursday 22nd of September.
Bradshaw is a school that prides itself on its inclusive and kind nature—our students and families share and care. Next week, Friday 9th of September, our School Council have organised a fundraiser event—hotdog lunch. Notes with order forms have gone home earlier in the week, but please call by the front office to collect an order form if your child hasn’t brought one home. On the same day, we will have our Act of Kindness day and students are encouraged to dress up in their favourite sports clothes for a gold coin donation. All profits will be donated to the purchase of a running frame which helps children with mobility issues participate in running and walking events. The cause was selected by students with their earnt tokens. Students earn these token by following our school values—Share, Care and Shine.
Happy Father’s Day!
To all the significant father figures in our community, we would like to wish you all a very happy Father’s Day this Sunday! May your loved ones spoil you and bring you some happiness. The SRC have run the school’s Father’s Day Stall again and sold many little presents which are sure to bring small moments of joy to many of our Bradshaw Families. I also had the pleasure of spending some time in the Transition classes who invited students’ father figures to an afternoon of bonding and ‘special time’! Thank you to the teachers and families for presenting our students with the opportunities to have these special moments at school.
Yesterday marked the first day of spring, although there was nothing about yesterday’s weather to suggest that was the case… Enjoy this lovely and sunny weekend and we will see families and students back on Monday!
Regards,
Ioana Suciu
Assistant Principal

Whats Been Happening At Bradshaw...
Year 2 Liddle
We have a new Document Camera in our room and Miss Liddle has finally set it up and last week we got to use it. Since last term, we have been focussing on Critical Thinking when it comes to solving maths solutions. This session we worked in small groups on Subitising. Then we got up and shared our findings/answers and explained them to the rest of the class using our new document camera.

Year 4 Spencer-Wright
4SW have been loving our weekly Social Skills lessons with Ms Suciu, which provide a brilliant opportunity to learn new games and put our Bradshaw Learner Qualities into practice. Once we have established our house rules, we go away and practice playing the game, making sure we ‘Care, Share and Shine’ whilst playing. We’ve enjoyed the opportunity to be role models and leaders, teaching younger classes how to follow our Learner Qualities while playing with our friends.
In Literacy we have enjoyed reading the novel Wandi by Favel Parrett, the story of an Alpine Dingo cub who is snatched from it’s den by an eagle and dropped in a suburban backyard. Students have enjoyed learning about the Alpine Dingo, the challenges the species faces in Australia, along with the threats and dangers faced by other endangered animal species around the world.

P.E with Mr Heggan
Students this week have been able to practice learnt skills and begin to learn new fundamental movement skills. The picture below shows a year 1 group that are actively engaged in a rotational circuit.

In this picture you will see students learning how to dribble, pass and shoot using a hockey stick. All of the students embraced learning new skills and it was requested that we spend more time on playing hockey next term.

Transition/Year 1 Markham Price
T/1MP had a wonderful afternoon with our dads and other family members on Wednesday to celebrate Father's Day. We played games, gave massages and shared our learning.
