Leadership Update
We Care! We Share! We Shine!
These are our school values, linked to our Bradshaw Learner Qualities. Across the school there are so many examples of the ways that our school community are living our Care, Share, Shine values. Read below for just a few of these stories
We welcomed the start of NAIDOC Week with the opening of the “Sharing Stories” Art Installation at the front of the school. The vision of our amazing art teacher, Lauren Wilson, has been realised with buddy classes painting a piece of corrugated iron in the themes of family, nature, learning, community and friendship. When you come to the front office stop by and have a look at these interesting and unique artworks hanging on the fence. This is one of the ways that we SHINE!
Our staff meeting this week was a truly special one. We set out to have a NAIDOC staff meeting at Honeymoon Gap. Our dedicated Akaltye Team worked on an inspiring presentation that helped us all learn more about the special connection to family and country in Central Australia. Some of our staff shared their knowledge and culture with us—their words and stories carrying through the unique landscape to remind us all about the richness of our country. This is one of the ways we Share at Bradshaw.
On Monday 8th of August, the School Survey will open for our school community to complete. The School Survey is filled in by students, staff and families. The information from the survey is used by our leadership team to recognise strengths (and celebrate them!) and also identify opportunities for growth and development. We want to hear from you about the things you love about Bradshaw and hear from you with any suggestions on how we could do some things even better! The survey doesn’t take very long to complete and can be done on your mobile phone. Watch out for some Facebook announcement and a text with a link. Your voice is important to us, and this is one way in which We Care at our school.
A big school event will be our Science Fair next week 11th of August. Please mark this in your calendar for a great afternoon fun and exploration with your child at school. The theme for the fair is More than Meets the Eye, and we will have investigation stations set around the school ready for our families to enjoy.
The next two weeks are jam packed with activities. Our Transition to Year 3 will be partaking in swimming lessons. Our Year 4s and 5s will be going on their school camps. Notes have all gone home and students are so very excited! If you have any questions about these activities please get in touch with your child’s classroom teacher for more information.
On behalf of all Bradshaw staff we wish you a wonderful weekend!

Whats Been Happening at Bradshaw...
Year 1 Abel
In 1A we have had a great start to term 3. We have been learning about seasons and how different cultures describe the weather in different ways. In our book this week, we flew to western Arnhem Land and have been looking at the 6 Kunwinjku seasons calendar. 1A have been working hard to follow our Bradshaw Learner Qualities, we have worked up to 60 pom poms in our reward jar! For this amazing work, we were able to bring our special teddies to school and enjoy a teddy bears picnic together in the sunshine!

Art
This week Bradshaw Artists have been working outside the art room to connect to country while painting.
Students have learnt about Western Desert Dot Painting Art and how Indigenous artists, always tell a story though the art they make.
Our Bradshaw artists have channelled this way of artmaking and have created paintings that tell a story about their connection to country and family.

Transition Barnes
Transition classes had the opportunity to visit the Desert Park last week as part of our learning about Australian Animals. We got to watch the bird show and look through the nocturnal house!

Year 3 O'Brien
This week being NAIDOC week, 3 O’Brien have been looking at different significant events in history. We then got together with our buddy class 1 Gill to share our knowledge and colour in some posters to hang around the school relating to the theme ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’.

Science Fair 'More Than Meets the Eye'
All Families invited to explore the many hands-on experiments. Please come to support Science in schools. See you there!

School Council
The next meeting of School Council is on Monday, 15 August at 5.30pm in the library. All parents are welcome to the meeting which runs for about 1 hour covering the Principal's Report, Treasurer's Report and the Reports from the Sub-Committees. Our School Council is an active and interesting space to have your input into the school.
Thank you to the parents who joined us for our recent 'Walkthrough'. This was organised by our new Building and Grounds Sub Committee. During our Walkthrough we were able to identify areas to enhance and beautify and also improve safety.
