Leadership Update
Werte Bradshaw families,
After three long weekends we are finally back to a five day a week routine. These last few weekends would have seen many of our staff, students and their families make the most of the fine weather and town events. From camping to town parades, many of our community members have been out and about.
In continuing this community spirit, this last week has been full of events that celebrate families and local connections.
Today we saw the success of one of our most important and celebrated days of the year—Sports Day! After two years of COVID interruptions, we were finally able to have families attend the day in full. And what a massive turn-out! Thank you to all the families who came to support their children and the school. Our students shined bright as they challenged themselves in so many of the events—congratulations to all the participants, finalists and winners! The big trophy went this year to ALKERE (Blue)! Congratulations to this bunch of superstars. A big thank you to Coach Heggan, Mrs. Fahey and all of the Sports Day team who have worked tirelessly to make this event such a huge success.
Our Year 6 students have demonstrated remarkable leadership skills leading up to Sports Day and they deserve a Newsletter shout out. They have coordinated all the house chant rehearsals and encouraged the participation of students and helped sustain a spirit of pride and inclusion. They also supported the set up and running of the finals field events and enthusiastically volunteered their time to support staff and students.
Our school community had another opportunity to engage in school events at the Bangtail Muster. Our Pre-school students, staff and families all came together to showcase the natural wonders of Alice Springs including Simpson’s Gap, Rainbow Valley, MacDonnell Ranges and Mt Sonder. Preschoolers wore headbands and flags to represent all these natural local beauties. A big thank you to our Pre-school staff for organizing this event and providing our parents and students an opportunity to connect to our local community.
Hooray for all the Mums in our lives—mothers, grandmothers, Arelhe-ampwe’s, stepmothers, mothers-in-law, foster moms, aunts, wives, partners, sisters, friends, fellow mums, mentors and women who love with a mother’s heart. As usual the absolute highlight of the day was the Mother’s Day stall run by Pat Andersen and the SRC—this was a huge success! To celebrate all the special Mums in our lives, many of our classrooms have been engaged in Mother’s Day activities—mainly focused on pampering the special women in our lives through gifts, art creations and special activities. I got to experience this first hand when I attended the special session in my daughter’s Transition class. I was greeted by her and invited to choose one of a few pampering stations: hand massage, back massage and a shoulder massage. It was absolutely delightful to take a small break and spend precious moments with my daughter giving me her undivided attention! I was delighted to see at least 18 parents in the class—and the vibe in the room was buzzing!
I hope you all enjoy this special Mother’s Day weekend!
Go ALKERE!

Whats been happening at Bradshaw...
Transition Barnes
Transition Barnes had the opportunity to visit Pre-School last week. The children got to say hello to their old teachers and played in the amazing outdoor space!

Year 1 Abel
Grade 1A have had an amazing start to Term 2. We finished off our History unit by creating our personal timelines which show us as babies, us now and us as old people. We have been loving our literacy unit on ‘Possum Magic’ by Mem Fox. We have been applying our writing skills to create simple sentences using adjectives, nouns and verbs. We read a non-fiction book about Possums and made our own Possum posters filled with interesting facts!

Year 3 O'Brien
Year 3 had a fantastic opportunity to listen to author Phil Kettle this week. He spoke to us about his 230+ books and his very own writing process for us to use and become our own authors. We have also been working hard on our upcoming Eisteddfod piece and cannot wait to perform it for everyone!
