Leadership Update
Bradshaw, a school where everyone belongs.
We all had a wonderful day on Monday celebrating our multicultural community here at Bradshaw. We started the day coming together for an assembly in the undercover area with the stunning MacDonnell Ranges as our backdrop. We were treated to a special dance performance by our Malayalee students. Outstanding students who consistently demonstrate kindness and inclusiveness were acknowledge and presented with a special Harmony Day certificate. Students created artworks that reflected their culture with their Buddy Class.
Research shows that periodic brain breaks and Morning Fitness can vastly improve kids' ability to stay engaged during more focused work. Every morning for the first 15 minutes, you will see our Year 3- 6 students in House groups energising their day with physical activities. Our Year 6 student leaders organise and lead the dancing, running and games.
Today some of our Year 4 boys and girls participated in the Netball round robin with other local Primary Schools. The fun event was organised by School Sport NT providing an opportunity to both learn some netball skills, play as a team and participate with other schools at the netball stadium.
As part of our Transition to Middle Years Program, Year 6 students were part of the crowd at the Battle of the Bands at CMS today. By all accounts it was loud, energising and entertaining concert with a band from Mulga Bore winning the battle.
YES Hat! YES Play! That’s the sun safe message at Bradshaw. Can you please check that your child has a hat each day. Caps are NOT allowed as they do not offer ear and neck protection. Hats need to have a full brim. Please check that your child’s hat is clearly labelled with their name.
Today all students learnt about Bullying. NO way! at Bradshaw. Every day is Bullying. No Way! and today we focussed our learning on understanding what bullying is and isn’t, where and when it happens and the bystander actions. Students identified people in the community who they can talk to about bullying. Every adult at Bradshaw is committed to supporting students who report bullying. We stress with our students to tell someone so that something can be done. To prevent bullying behaviour, we promote a Kindness Culture and explicitly teach students how to be emotionally literate. Students identified positive ways we encourage this culture at our school and spoke about things like helping others in need, smiling, using manners, being inclusive in when playing games, respecting people’s property, encouraging peers to be brave, focusing on gratitude, showing appreciation, and carrying out acts of kindness where you don’t expect much in return.
Kind people are the best type of people, lucky for us there are so many here at Bradshaw.

Whats been happening at Bradshaw...
3/4 Marzohl
Year 3 and Year 4 with Mrs Marzohl have been focusing on growing our mindset and embracing opportunities to step outside our comfort zone and try new things. We all enjoyed showing our talents when presenting Reader’s Theatre and performing in front of each other. There are some budding actors in our class!
We are taking responsibility as a team for looking after our learning space by feeding our class pets, watering our plants and keeping our spaces clean and tidy.
‘Being responsible’ is our motto. This means being brave enough to own up when we make a poor choice and saying sorry.
A highlight of this term has been working together to invent, design and create something to help our environment. Meeting and having fun with our buddy class was everyone’s favourite event. We can’t wait to enjoy many more activities together.

Science with Mrs Mapstone
Year 2 have been learning about mixtures and their purposes.
We decided to investigate different types of mixtures using various tools to find out whether certain mixtures can be separated after they are combined. Learning can be fun and messy!

Year 1 Abel
There has been so much happening in 1A this term. We have been focusing on writing simple sentences that make sense. We have applied our learning by writing beautiful letters to children at school in Lismore who have been affected by the floods. Our writing has improved so much! We have been learning our letters and sounds and practising our fluency by reading in partners. We have loved our weekly library sessions, what amazing books we have at our school! Discovery Learning is always a highlight, we have enjoyed making awesome creations in the sand, practising our communication skills. In 1A we are learning to identify the size of our problems and build resilience to deal with small or tiny problems with independence. We have also been focusing on our conflict resolution skills by learning to express our frustrations in a calm and kind way.

Year 4 Pierce
In the leadup to Harmony Week 4P did some research on other cultures to see how they differed from our own. We then presented our findings to our classmates. We also had a chance to discuss our cultures and put a map together that showed where we are all from.
