Week 3, Term 3 2020
Update from Leadership
Another exciting Sports Day has been held at Bradshaw. Congratulations to the winning team ARNE. Staff are very proud of all students for their participation, their encouragement of others and also their excellent behaviour. Well done Bradshaw students. Thank you to the families who came along and supported the students, and for helping us follow the new COVID-19 procedures. A BIG thank you to Mrs Laura Nyman and the Bradshaw team on another successful Sports Day.
Staff recently attended an information session about allergies and anaphylaxis presented by St John Ambulance. We have a number of students across the school with severe anaphylaxis so it is important that staff keep up to date with this information. One of the most interesting aspects of this session was the introduction of two apps about contacting 000 in an emergency. Do you think your child would know what to do if they needed to call for help for a friend or family member? The apps are:
Triple Zero Kids Challenge http://kids.triplezero.gov.au/. Children learn about getting help by playing games and solving mysteries. They learn about safety messages and hear what happens when you call Triple Zero.
Cool Kids First Aid Triple 000 Trainer https://www.coolkidsfirstaid.com/triple-000-trainer/ helps you to teach your child how to dial emergency services in the unfortunate event of an emergency.
These apps can be easily downloaded by families to help your child learn about getting help using 000.
Next week Learning Conferences are being held with teachers. This is your opportunity to meet with your child and their teacher and hear about their learning progress and goals. Notes should be returned to class teachers as soon as possible. If you have not yet received a note about the Learning Conferences please check with your child, their teacher or the front office.

Sports Day
We were so pleased to be able to celebrate Sports Day this year, the first school in the Territory to do so post COVID. Whilst we had to change things up a little for it to go ahead, it was a fantastic day had by all. Big congrats to ARNE for bringing the trophy home for the second year in a row. EVERY student ran their sprint and the sportmanship was alive throughout the entire day. Thanks to our parents for following our COVID guidelines. Well done Bradshaw.

3-Way Learning Conferences
Next week we have our Learning Conferences. These short meetings are an excellent opportunity for students, parents and teachers to come together to review learning achievements, set goals, discuss challenges and refine supports. We look forward to seeing you during this week. Teachers have sent home a booking sheet with available meeting times. If you have not returned yours, please do so as soon as possible. Meetings are strictly 15 minutes long and we ask that you keep to the time limit so that families are not kept waiting. If you are not able to make it please know that at any time you can call the school to catch up with your child’s teacher(s).
Students will have worked with their teachers to determine where they are currently in their learning journey and what they plan to achieve by the end of the year. We will all then work together to support this achievement.
School Camps Week 6
We have been working tirelessly to be prepared for our Year 4-6 2020 camps. Whilst COVID regulations have presented us with some challenges, we are working through these and are confident our camps will go ahead. Notes have been sent home with further details, payment is being accepted now at the front office. If you are unsure what you owe or if you have any money allocated from your back to school voucher, please contact the front office. We are still seeking parent volunteers for these camps and if you are interested or would like further information please contact Michele Turk.
Work from 3 Fahey
3 Fahey have been working on some very cool work.

Hats and water bottles are compulsory
Lots of students have been coming to school without a hat and a water bottle. As part of our sun smart policy it is a requirement that every student has a bucket hat at school every day. Students who do not have an appropriate hat will not be allowed into the yard to play and will remain supervised in the concourse.
To continue to ensure the safety of everyone and following our COVID-19 guidelines, water bubblers are still not able to be used for anything other than the refilling of water bottles. Every child must have a named water bottle to drink from, these cannot be shared. This can be in any form, a recyled plastic bottle is fine. We thank you for your continued coperation.
Health warning
It has been reported that we have had a case of mumps within our school community. Whilst mumps are highly contagious, appropriate medical attention was sought and exclusion has been followed. For more information on mumps please visit the link below.
2021 Enrolments
Bradshaw has commenced planning for 2021. We are currently establishing a waiting list for Transition students in order to ensure we have the correct staffing for the number of students from the start of the year. If you are planning to send your child to Transition at Bradshaw in 2021, please let the front office know as there are limited places. Equally if you know you will be moving on or enrolling elsewhere we would appreciate being informed as early as possible to help with planning.
School Survey
The 2020 Parent Survey is now here! The Survey will go ‘live’ Monday the 10th of August. You can follow the link to complete the survey or your child will bring home a hardcopy for your convenience. Thank you for taking the time to help us make informed decisions about school improvement by sharing your perspectives on our current practice. We look forward to hearing form you.
