Week 7, Term 1, 2022
Leadership Update
It’s a week of celebration with EVENTS, EVENTS, EVENTS!
This week we are recognizing and celebrating the diversity of our school community with Holi Day on Friday and Harmony Day on Monday.
Holi Day is a Hindu Festival that is celebrated by many of our Bradshaw families who make up the fourth largest cultural group in our school community. Being the Festival of Colour, today each student drew a self-portrait with black marker and then spray painted it with colour dye. Our finished work will be displayed in the front office soon. Be on the lookout for our colourful self-portraits.
Wear cultural dress or orange clothing on Monday for Harmony Day. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Harmony Day is one of Bradshaw’s favourite events and the highlight this year will be a presentation of dancing by students who are also members of the Malayalee Association. This will be an outdoor event which includes the presentation of the Harmony Day Award recognizing a student in each class who is inclusive, curious and understanding and respectful of others from diverse cultural backgrounds. Our assembly is for students only. Buddy classes will work together on activities to appreciate our cultural differences.
Next Friday we will focus on the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. As part of our Social and Emotional Learning, every day students at Bradshaw learn and practice the skills they need to build resilience and to manage their emotions, behavior and friendships with others. At Bradshaw we are kind with our words and actions. On Friday, we will focus on what bullying is and isn’t and the role of the bystander in a bullying event.
Our school’s Sports Day has been locked in for Friday 6 May. Friends and family are welcome to join our school community event which is shaping up to be a great day. Coach Heggan and the Sports Day team have started planning.
Lots of community sports and activities resume this weekend. Look out for details in the school newsletter. If you are part of a community group with a family friendly activity or event coming up….send through your flier for including in our newsletter.
Have a great weekend!

COVID-19 Update
As we have seen a significant decrease in cases over the past few weeks, we are beginning to introduce more programmes and activities across the school. Students have been able to connect with their buddies and next Monday we look forward to joining together for the first time this year for an outdoor Harmony Day assembly.
Up until the end of Term 1, we will continue to notify parents via text if a positive COVID case has been present in your child’s class. Cleaning, physical distancing and monitoring for COVID symptoms are still considered priority in keeping our school community as safe as possible.
Whats been happening at Bradshaw...
Year 1 Gill
1G have had a busy couple of weeks. A few of our highlights have been Subitising Bingo, Library Sessions, Discovery Learning, History, and meeting our 3O buddies. We have been working lots on our social and emotional learning too, trying to read our own bodies and getting ourselves into the ‘green zone’ for learning. And we even had a special visitor for show and share! Cheeky was a very well-behaved lizard.
