Leadership Update
Werte, families of Bradshaw,
First of all, I would like to acknowledge that this newsletter is coming from Arrernte country. I am in awe every day of the changing face of spectacular McDonnell Ranges. How lucky are we!
If there’s one thing I know about Bradshaw, it’s that we love an opportunity to have some fun and our two-rrific Two’s Day didn’t disappoint. Classes marked the special date, 22.2.22, in style by dressing up in their very best tutus, top hats and ties. We had all types of learning connecting to the theme; 1H and 1G doing some math investigations about doubles with legs; 2L sung harmoniously skip counting by 2s; 3/4M explored different two’s homophones; 5U studied different twins, and the whole school had a 2min dance party at precisely 2.22 pm. I can’t wait for the next dress-up day, I wonder what it will be?
As I have walked around the school this week, I have heard teachers talk to students about having a “growth mindset” for learning. When students have a growth mindset, they see themselves as growing and developing. They believe they can build any skill with effort, and this can help them create a love of learning and excitement around new challenges. The way we praise our children can have a profound impact on their mindset. At Bradshaw, some of the ways our teachers encourage a growth mindset are by; positively acknowledging effort and perseverance through tasks; setting realistic goals and celebrating growth; valuing mistakes as opportunities to learn and talking to students about the power of the word “yet”. Every mistake you make is progress!
While we are still managing our way through changes with COVID-19 in our school community, we have not lost sight of the importance of keeping students' wellbeing and learning at the centre. We couldn’t be more grateful for the work our teachers are doing and the support we have from our families. In conversations with families, we have received feedback that our communication about notified positive cases have been highly appreciated. This means we will continue to inform our community of positive COVID-19 cases, however, from next week onwards, primary contacts only will be notified via text if there is a positive case in your child/ren’s class.
Today, it was wonderful to finish the week on a high with a junior and senior staff vs students’ friendly soccer match. In true Bradshaw spirit the cheers and smiles were plenty.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Whats been happening at Bradshaw...
Transition Stubbings
In Transition we have been using our developing fine motor skills to create collages of our names. We have also enjoyed exploring small world play settings and reading stories in the library.

4 Spencer-Wright
4SW have been busy learning about place value, some of us are investigating numbers into the hundred thousands! We built sculpture with MAB blocks and then looked at who’s sculpture had the greatest place value.
We’ve also enjoyed reflecting on the best part of us, and published a short writing piece outlining what our favourite feature is and why.

P.E
Students were actively engaged in AFL sessions during PE last week. They were encouraged to practice their handballing and kicking skills in a safe, inclusive environment. Students of all years engaged with enthusiasm and the AFL representatives were very complimentary when talking about the students at Bradshaw.

Tutus, Top Hats and Ties
On Tuesday we celebrated 'Twosday' 22.2.2022. Students and staff looked great in their Tutus, Top Hats and Ties!
