Leadership Update
As the weeks roll along we are in the swing with wellbeing, safety and learning at Bradshaw. Staff and students are used to the hand washing and cleaning routines and families continue to be very supportive in picking up students displaying COVID symptoms. Learning packs are available for home learning. Either phone the office or email jennie.ward@education.nt.gov.au to request one for your child/ren.
Although many of our extra programs are on hold because of COVID restrictions, there continues to be amazing things happening at school. We all enjoyed the colour dress up day last Friday and look forward to seeing lots of tutus, ties and top hats around on the 22-02-2022. Classes will be involved in lots of 2s activities to celebrate this once in a lifetime date.
We continue to have Department programs running during this time such as the Languages program run by the Alice Springs Language Centre. Students in Year 2 – Year 6 learn a language other than English during a session once a week. The languages provided are dependent on the availability of language teachers and currently Bradshaw classes learn Arrernte, Japanese and Chinese with Spanish beginning in Term 2.
The NT Music School also visits Bradshaw each week and provides music lessons to interested students in Year 4 – Year 6. Students learn the trombone, flute, guitar, percussion, saxophone and singing. The Music School can only cater for a certain number of students and expressions of interest come out towards the end of the year. Keep an eye out around November if your child is in Year 3, 4 or 5 and would like to learn an instrument.
At school each class enjoys three specialist classes every week; Science, Art and P.E. These classes provide expert instruction by teachers who are skilled and passionate about their subject area.
So, as you can see, as well as the amazing classroom programs our students enjoy we are still able to provide fun, specialist programs in a number of areas. As COVID restrictions ease there will be many other exciting activities the students can participate in such as camps, discos, dance programs, whole school fitness, buddies and many more.
Until then, stay safe and happy and let us know if we can help in any way.
Regards,
Jennie Ward
Assistant Principal

Transition Barnes
In Transition Barnes we have been using a play-based approach to explore numbers and counting through games, songs and fine motor skills.

Gardening with Mr Cam
There was a big weeding effort from the Year 3 classes to get the garden ready – very impressive don’t you think? All classes from Year 3-6 are involved in composting to reduce food waste and create a more sustainable school. Students are now collecting their food scraps for the compost bin at the front of the school. The afternoon gardening groups with Mr Cam starts next week. Look out for the veggie patch coming to life in the weeks ahead.

Covid-19 Vaccination School Program
The Dept of Helath will be having a Vaccination clinic here at Bradshaw next Friday 25 February 2022.
