Week 2, Term 1, 2022
Leadership Update
The first two weeks of Term 1 have been exceptional as staff and families have been following the COVID guidelines and regulations. Thank you again to the families for your ongoing support in following our COVID safe practices including sending your children to school with their own water bottles, dropping them off and collecting them at the Kiss-and-Go, and providing some of the older students with face-masks. Our students have risen to the occasions and have been incredibly responsible in following the new COVID safe routines.
Families have been doing the right thing and keeping their children at home if they are unwell. For students who become unwell at school, we ask them to wait at the front office while we make contact with families to come and collect them. Please continue to keep the communication open and advise us of COVID related absences for your child by email, phone or replying to the Bradshaw Mobile texts.
Now that students have settled into learning and have begun to build strong relationships with their peers and teachers, you will see many of them bringing home their first completed Bradshaw Learner Card. Students get a ‘bubble’ on their learner cards whenever the teacher catches them displaying one of the three Bradshaw Learner Qualities: I am Responsible; I Learn with Others; I Challenge Myself. This is of great pride to many of our students who love to be recognised for their good behaviour and attitude to learning. The first Learner Card is special and is sent home with a message to the family and a Bradshaw pencil.
Bradshaw School loves a good event, and so today we had our first dress up day (and we kept it easy!)—dress in your favourite colour. Students and staff were excited to have the opportunity to have the freedom to wear something special and share it with their friends. Watch out for some Facebook photos of colourful students.
Due to COVID regulations we are unable to have whole school assemblies. Instead, we are having virtual assemblies in each class. Mrs. Fahey puts together an interactive and engaging Presentation with videos, activities and even awards. All classes watch the presentation on the screen and learn about what’s happening around the school and in different classes.
At the end of 2021 we made plans to start the year with an additional class to cater for a growing number of students, and so we commenced this year with 21 classes in the primary school. Due to COVID and student movement, our actual enrolment for 2022 looked different. We needed to look at managing our resources and planning for the sustainability of the school. The leadership team made the decision to disband one of our Year 2 classes and have the students of 2 Williams join other classes. All families have been notified and the students begin with their new teachers on Monday. We appreciate the support and understanding of the community when we have to make decisions like this. We want to thank David Williams for stepping in to take the class at the beginning of the year and then working closely with the Year 2 team to make sure that each student is placed in the best class for them and with the right teacher. Thank you David, —you’re a total team player!
Wishing all our school community a fantastic weekend.

6 Lewis
Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a safe and happy school holiday break spending time with friends and family.
This week in 6L students have started a descriptive piece of writing based on their favourite place. Students have also started learning about place value through group rotations.
All of the students in 6L have settled back into school wonderfully and are practicing active listening skills and working collaboratively as a team. Last week students spent time working in small groups discussing things they have in common and identifying the characteristics of working in a team. Here are some photos from the past two weeks!
Have a great weekend,
Miss Jess Lewis
