Update from Leadership
Welcome to week 9 Bradshaw families,
“I didn’t realise it was the end of Term 4!” Said no teacher ever!
End of week 9 of Term 4 begins to mark the end of another school year and so our calendar of celebratory events is getting busier and busier. One of the main points that came out of the recent school survey was that families felt that the school at times could be more strategic in communicating important information about upcoming events. Please read the attached events timetable for the next week carefully so that you are aware of all the various special end of year activities. If you are not sure about any details, please contact the front office or your child’s teacher for more information:
Monday:
- A regular school day with a special buddy-class activity in the last session of the day.
Tuesday:
- Students are invited to wear Christmas clothes; some classes may have sent out notes about clothing requirements for the concert. Check with your child’s teacher if unsure.
- 11:30-12:30 Buddy Christmas Concert—families are invited to come and join us for this special event (please check-in using the Territory-Check-in-app).
- In the afternoon students will be presented with Bradshaw Learner Certificates in their classrooms and then have a fun-filled afternoon of exciting activities across the school—from water and sand-play to touch-footy games.
Wednesday:
- 8:30 Whole school assembly - Attendance, farewells and STEM awards. Families are invited to come and join us for this, please check-in using the Territory-Check-in-app.
- 11:30-2:30 Year 6 students will be going to the Gillen Club as part of their graduation activities.
- Students will meet their 2022 teachers after recess.
- 12:00—class parties. Please send a small plate of food with your child to share at the class party.
- Semester 2 reports sent home with students.
Thursday:
Last day of school! Most classes will be cleaning up, packing up and moving furniture and resources to new rooms. Any assistance on this day is greatly appreciated. If students find this level of cleaning and independent responsibility challenging please feel free to make alternative arrangements.
The leadership team would like to use this opportunity to thank each and every one of our families for being such a positive part of our school community. It’s incredible to look back at everything our students have achieved: learning progress, new friendships, and increased resilience. Our Bradshaw Learners have challenged themselves, been responsible and learnt together and this has brought us together as a proud and positive community.
A massive thank you to Kate Pendle, Melissa Rundle, Petra Tilmouth and the Pre-school team for their incredible Preschool Graduation! Family support was amazing, and to see the confidence and pride with our littlest Bradshaw Learners was inspiring (and a personal proud-Mummy moment for me!).
The Year 6 teachers—Marissa Priestley, Pip Mapstone and Paige Warner, with the dedicated help of Alex Morton, have been working tirelessly with the Year 6 students on their graduation! So much work goes into this graduation event behind the scenes, and our Year 6 students have really risen to the occasion. We wish them a fantastic and unforgettable night! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Year 6 families for their ongoing support throughout the years and commitment to their child’s education journey at Bradshaw.
Our School Council has its final meeting next week where we will conclude our work for this year and look to the school improvement for 2022. Early next year the school community will be invited to contribute their opinion on our actions around school improvement. We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Have a wonderful, safe and relaxing Christmas and a very Happy New Year and we look forward to our continued partnerships in 2022.
Regards,
Ioana Suciu
Assistant Principal
Whats been happening at Bradshaw...
1 Phillips
In our Design and Technology unit on Force, students in Year 1P have planned, designed, and created moveable toys. After some trial and error everyone's toy could move by either pulling or pushing. Students shared these with the class and wrote a reflection.

3 Fahey
As a follow on from Mr William’s Science lessons on shadows, 3 Fahey created these beautiful tree silhouettes to brighten up their classroom.

NRL NT
This week Sam from NRL NT came all the way from Darwin volunteering his time to run some NRL clinics with students of all ages. All of the students had a blast learning new skills such as how to ‘play the ball’, how to ‘score a try’ and how to ‘pass the ball’. Students are encouraged to sign up for an NRL team in Alice next year to make new friends and have a great time doing it while learning new skills.

Mountain Bike Program
Bradshaw students have been starting their day with mountain biking and thoroughly enjoying the experience.
18 students are registered for the Bradshaw Primary School Mountain Bike Program coordinated by Georgina Landy who works for AusCycling. She is generously assisted by teachers, Miss Spencer Wright, Miss Warner, Mr Rinkin, MTB Skills Instructor Crispin and various parents.
All participants ride on the West Side mountain bike trails off Lovegrove Drive between 7-8am and face the challenges, work together as a group and enjoy the rewards of flowing down a hill and putting in effort.
Once returned to school breakfast is provided thanks to the Alice Springs mountain bike club called Central Australian Rough Riders or CARR for short. The program happens Terms 1 & 4 each year. You are welcome to contact George if you have any questions on georgina.landy@auscycling.org.au or 0414 091 533.

Year 1 Geography Excursion
On Tuesday and Wednesday in Week 8, The Year 1 and 1/2 classes went on an Excursion to Anzac Hill and Emily Gap. We started off the day at Anzac Hill, where we discussed and drew some constructed and natural features in Alice Springs. It was beautiful to see the Macdonnell Ranges in the background, and was a great talking point amongst the students. We then travelled to Emily Gap. Aunty Shannan spoke to everyone about the history and significance of Emily Gap in relation to the dreaming of the Yeperenye Caterpillar. We then sat down and enjoyed a beautiful picnic morning tea before exploring Emily Gap. We saw the rock paintings, climbed the rocks, and searched the water for tadpoles and frogs! We had such an amazing time altogether. It was wonderful to finish off the year with such a great excursion.

Silly Socks and Hot Dog Day
What a lot of Silly Socks we had at school last Friday!
It was great to see so many students and staff with their colourful and zany socks. Just over 200 hot dogs were sold!
Thank you to our School community for your support and also to the parents who volunteered to cook our hot dogs.
