Week 9, Term 2, 2020
Update from Leadership
Can you believe that this is the last newsletter of the semester? Time flies when you are having fun! In the name of fun, Bradshaw turned into “Bradshaw – School for Superheros” today. The dress-ups and costumes were fabulous and it was so good to see the creative ways in which students dressed as their own hero. We had many Mums, movie and book characters, we even had a Mrs Weily.
Our line the concourse in gold day was held on Tuesday. Staff and students lined the concourse to place their gold coins along the current white line. This is part of the efforts in which to raise approx. $15000 to beautify the concourse with Yeperenyes (caterpillars). We collected approx. $700 on this day, an impressive start. A donation tin will remain at the office for those gold coin drop offs at any time.
It’s been a long time coming but they are finally ready. We are excited to be able to play on our newly surfaced courts from tomorrow. A big thank you to the Bradshaw School community for getting behind the various fundraisers over the past few years to enable this massive project to take place.
Teachers have been working hard completing your child’s semester one school reports. These will be sent home with students next Wednesday 24th June, followed up with 3-way learning conferences early next term. Keep an eye out for further information.
We are excited to announce that Mr Victor has been appointed a permanent role here at Bradshaw. Mr Victor is our maintenance officer. You will see him around fixing and maintaining our building and grounds. He is super friendly, please say hi!
As always, the end of Semester sees a few staff changes. We wish Ms Maureen Curran all the best as she heads north taking up a position in the Torres Straight Islands. Miss Melissa Rundle will be taking long service for the duration of Term 3, we are working on finalising backfilling arrangements in the Preschool. We also look forward to welcoming back Miss Alex Royes who is returning from maternity leave.
A reminder that tomorrow is a staff professional development day. Students do not come to school on this day. We thank you for making alternative arrangements for your child/children to support the important learning of our staff. As part of our Annual School Improvement Goals, staff will be looking at our school data to inform and plan for term 3.
On behalf of the Leadership team, we wish you a safe and enjoyable school holiday break. We’d like to thank you for your support and ongoing commitment to your child’s learning throughout this semester. Students return to school Tuesday 21st July. We look forward to seeing everyone back in full school uniform (no coloured jumpers/jackets) and a hat ready to learn on this day.

Giraffe’s Can’t Dance TS & T/1P
Check out this writing from our very clever Transition and Year 1 students. After reading the story Giraffe’s Can’t Dance, our youngest writers retold the story in words and pictures. You will see some students are sounding out words, some are making letter shapes and others have detailed drawings – these are all steps in learning how to write. These masterpieces are all on display in the classroom.

Staff Development Day

Reminder - Tomorrow Friday 19th June is a Staff Professional Development day. Students do not come to school on this day!
Super Hero Day!!!!
At Bradshaw we have many heros, but today we got to dress up as our favourite! Bradshaw Learners dressed as their favourite super hero or someone they look up to as a hero in their life.

Art Enrichment
Last week the students in the Senior Art Enrichment group visited the 2020 Alice Prize Art Exhibition at Araluen.
The students enjoyed viewing and interpreting the artwork and had insightful discussions about how the artists produced their work.
