Week 7, Term 2, 2020
Update from Leadership
Here it is and you’re holding it in your hands….Bradshaw’s first ever enewsletter. School and community life comes alive with photos, videos, community announcements and news of the learning, activities and events of the last fortnight and what to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
Our move to an online format was in response to the survey earlier this year. Over 90% of families said they would prefer to receive and read the newsletter online. This has reduced our paper and printing costs and will hopefully see more school news making it home rather than scrunched up in the bottom of the school bag.
We hope you enjoy our first issue. If you have any feedback on the enewsletter, Click here to send an email letting us know what you think! What would you like to see more of? Less of?
All in the name of fun, Pyjama Day was held on Wednesday. Lots of staff and students swapped uniforms for the comfort of flannelette, slippers and dressing gowns. Our next fun dress up day is Superhero Day. Dust off your masks and capes or come as your own superhero self on Thursday 18 June.
Friday 19 June is our Staff Development Day. Students do not attend on this day as teachers come together to learn about how we use data to inform our teaching practice and to review and plan programs for Term 3. This work is part of our Annual School Improvement Plan. Thank you for your support of our hardworking Bradshaw staff.
There are some students who are wearing sporting and coloured clothing and NOT school uniform. Only a school jumper, jacket or dark blue jacket/jumper can be worn on these chilly school mornings. All other clothing is for outside school wear only. Please ensure your child wears the correct clothing. School uniform can be purchased from the front office – there is plenty in stock.
The Aboriginal Committee are working to improve the concourse area by replacing the white line down the middle with Yeperenye (caterpillar) artwork. This will bring our concourse to life with vibrant colour while honouring and respecting the story of the Arrernte people, whose country Alice Springs is built on. The Committee is seeking sponsorship for the project and are undertaking fundraising activities to meet the estimated $15,000 cost. Lining the concourse in Gold is the first fundraising activity next Friday 12th June and all students are asked to bring a gold coin or two or three to donate. We will line up all our gold coins to see if we can reach from the front to the back of the school.

T/1PS are Botanists!
Students have been learning about how plants grow and change. They have grown their own seedlings from different beans. In this experiment they watched their beans germinate, grow roots and shoots. The beans grew in a plastic bag taped to the classroom window. We then transplanted them into a cup with soil. We are watching them grow!

Save the date - Sports Day

Family Maths Activity – At the Zoo
You don’t need to be a numbers expert to enjoy this maths activity. Bring the family together to have fun discovering real-life maths.
At the zoo, there are many different types of animals. Some have 2 legs, some have 4 legs, some have more than 4 legs and some have none at all!
Can you and your family think of all the zoo animals you like and count how many fit into each group according to how many legs they have? You could draw a picture, a pictogram, a tally chart, bar charts or a table. Could you think of an animal for each group? Which group had the most? How many more had 4 legs than had no legs?

Reconcilliation Week at Bradshaw
Last week at Bradshaw we celebrated Reconcilliation Week. Many Bradshaw learners have been working together on creating posters to go around the school. Our awesome Bradshaw students have come together to display what reconciliation means to them.

Bring your own water bottle to school!

Just a reminder to all Bradshaw families, students are required to bring a water bottle to school everyday. Our bubblers are currenlty only to be used to refill water bottles. This is to ensure the saftey of everyone.
Art Update!
In Art this week all students across the school have been experimenting and learning different clay techniques and processes.
Here are some Year 3 students making and painting their clay monsters.

Resurfacing the basketball courts!
We have a construction site at school! The playing surfaces at the back of the school are finally being upgraded. The asphalt is being lifted and replaced with a synthetic play surface that will offer a safer play space for our students. No more painful scrapes and grazes from the bitey asphalt. Works will be completed in the days ahead and we will have a bright, colourful safe surface, new basketball backboards and netball rings.

Pyjama Day!
