Week 7, Term1, 2021
Update from Leadership
We are at the end of week 7 and Easter and the April break is creeping up on us! I have been spending a lot of time recently, walking through classes and eavesdropping on lessons. There has been a high level of quality learning across the board- but would we really expect anything else at Bradshaw? I have heard lessons on Prime Ministers, measurement, sentence scrambling, how to throw the shotput, mixing primary colours and creative writing with a prompt.
Students are engaged and able to confidently talk about their learning. I have asked several students if they are having a good year so far, and all tell me they are loving learning and their teacher.
As I am based in The Hub, I have also thoroughly enjoyed seeing our students coming at recess times to play some very creative and inclusive games with each other. Recently we have had many games of schools, hospitals, banks and lego masterpieces that you wouldn’t believe.
In the yard, the flavour of the month seems to be still handball and “marks up” on the senior side and the sandpit and soccer on the junior side.
This week, the Year 6 students have presented their speeches and voted on who will be our new Domain Leaders for Semester One. Our leadership model for students has changed a little bit this year as we now have three domains. These are Community, Coaching and Communication. All students in Year 6 are in one of these domains. Leaders will be announced and presented with their badges at the Week 10 Assembly. Students in years 4 and 5 will vote this week for their SRC representative.
Thank you for taking a quick trip around the school with me this week, have a lovely weekend.

Harmony Day 2021
Just a reminder, our Harmony Day celebrations will be held tomorrow, Friday 19th March. Students are welcome to wear orange or to wear an outfit that represents their culture.

CSC Stars Supporting Bradshaw Learners
Every Tuesday, The CSC Stars from Centralian Senior College come to Bradshaw to participate in a mentoring program with 2/3L. This involves supporting the young students with their learning. In the last two sessions we have focussed on spelling and maths. This has been a great opportunity to build relationships ,work together, build confidence and become a team member .
At the end of every session we reflect on how the session went and provide The CSC stars with feedback which supports their learning.
Preschool News
Last week the preschool students welcomed Constable Tai Gavin to the preschool. He spoke to us about the role of a police officer and showed us how they can collect fingerprints off a window. Constable Tai also spoke with us about Stranger Danger and introduced us to the three R’s; Recognise, React and Report. We also had a look in the police car, saw the flashing lights and heard the siren!
School Holiday Vacation Care
Back to School Vouchers
A reminder that Back to School Vouchers must be used before the end of Term 1. Due to a delay from our supplier, not all uniform orders have been received. Therefore, we will be taking orders at the front office so that you can still spend your vouchers. At this stage there will be a limit of two of each item per child.

Parental Contributions
Reminder: If you haven't yet paid your parental contribution, please do so by the end of term.
The annual Parental Contributions as follows:
- One child enrolled: $100
- Two children enrolled: $175
- Three or more children enrolled: $250
- Low income family: $50 per student (max $150 per family)
This represents excellent value at around $2.50 per week per child. The school relies on parental contributions to ensure high quality resources are available in classrooms and to assist with purchasing classroom consumables, subsidising incursions and travel for excursions. Back to School Vouchers cannot be used to pay parental contributions.
Sports Vouchers
A letter will be accompanying your child home this week with a letter on how to access your term one sports voucher.
Public Holidays and End of Term Dates
As we are nearing the end of the term we want to keep you all up to date with the public holidays that are coming up shortly:
- Good Friday: April 2nd, 2021
- Easter Monday: April 5th, 2021
- Last Day of Term One: Friday 9th April, 2021
Students will return to school for term two on Monday 19th April, 2021.
