Week 5, Term 1, 2021
Update from Leadership
It is Week 5 already and classes are all organised and working hard on their learning. Our new teachers have settled in well to Bradshaw and are impressed with the support they are receiving from those who have been at Bradshaw for a while. They are feeling the ‘family like’ atmosphere and we thank parents and students as well for embracing our new staff. Bradshaw really is a special place.
Next Friday, 12th March is a staff professional development day and students are not required at school. Staff will be learning about the Alert program, which teaches students how to manage their emotions. We will implement the approach across the school so students develop the ability to self-regulate – to motivate themselves when they are feeling sluggish and to calm themselves when feeling heightened. If you would like to learn more about the Alert Program visit https://www.alertprogram.com
A few reminders to make sure your child is in the best position to learn:
- Please do not send children to school before 8am as they are unsupervised.
- Students need a broad brimmed hat to play outside. They are available at the front office for $10.
- Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats breakfast so they are at their best to learn.
- Pack a piece of fruit and a healthy recess and lunch every day.
- Bradshaw is not funded to provide food for students. Frontier Services can send food if you pay for it – forms are at the front office. If your child needs an emergency lunch, please contact the front office or Shannan.
The Akaltye Team is still working hard to raise funds to have the concourse painted with Yeperenye to brighten it up and to honour the Arrernte people on whose land Bradshaw is located. A hot dog and popper lunch is being organised for Friday of Week 7. Notes will come home soon. The painting will be done during the mid-year break to coincide with NAIDOC. If you have any fundraising ideas or would like to assist with fundraising, please contact the front office.

Professional Development Day
Next Friday 12th March staff will be engaged in professional learning. Students do not come to school on this day. We thank you for your support.

End of Summer Festival
Our End of Summer Festival last Friday saw the students come together for Buddy time, Whole School Chasey, Tech Time and a disco with our own DJ Vitamin A! Free dress and a sausage sizzle bought the smiles. We had 91% attendance on the day. Well done everyone. It is important that we see every student at school every day.

Mountain Bike Club
Thanks to Miss Spencer-Wright, Mr Rinkin and Mrs Usher for creating the opportunity for our Bradshaw Mountain Bikers to get out on the tracks before school every Tuesday – what a way to start your day! Our eager riders are coached each week by Georgina Landy from AusCycling.

Job Vacancy
Bradshaw Primary School are seeking an emergency front office relief assistant to start ASAP.
Ideally the person would know our school, have some prior administration experience and be available to work at short notice. Must be flexible and willing to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment. Ochre card is required, first aid desirable.
Please contact us with your expression of interest including resume/experience at bradshaw.school@education.nt.gov.au or for more information, contact Tracie in the front office on 8955 2100.

Download the Bradshaw Schoolzine app
Currently only 51 families receive our newlstter via the SchoolZine app.
We encourage all families to download the Bradshaw Schoolzine app. Head to the apple or google play store and search "SZ app." We are planning to use this tool as a communication tool between school and home. On the app you can see newlstters, links to phone the school, website and Facebook pages and much more.
Once you have downloaded, search for us - Bradshaw Primary School and register with your email address. When prompted, use the Bradshaw School only passcode 3243 then select "parent/guardian."
