Update from Leadership
A big welcome back to school and to our first newsletter for the year. Bradshaw was buzzing with excitement as just over 500 students and staff returned to school and preschool for 2021.
Lots of students were delighted to see their friends, meet their teacher and to get into the routine of learning. In every classroom students and staff are focused on building connections with each other, working through classroom routines and expectations and getting on with learning. In welcoming students back to school, I spoke about the effort we need to put into learning and the importance of being kind to each other.
Teachers have worked incredibly hard to have classrooms welcoming and ready for learning. Thank you to the dedication of all our staff who put in many long hours both working from home and at school to be ready for the first day. Your efforts are appreciated and reflected in the calm, purposeful start to the year.
There have been lots of enrolment enquiries and we only accept students living in our zone. Everyone wants to wear the blue and gold! Our classes are full, meaning most have 26 or 27 students. In the week ahead there will be some minor restructuring of classes to make room for everyone. Families will be contacted should a change of teacher affect your child.
The important thing now is that EVERY student is at school on Friday 26 February. This is our Fun & Friendship Day and also Census Day which determines our school funding. We need EVERYONE at school!
Coming to school every day is important. At Bradshaw our goal is 90% attendance. If your child is sick, keep them at home and let the school know. We want to see kids at school every day, learning.
Meet the Teacher Afternoon is Thursday 11 February from 4.30pm. This is an informal time when families can check out classrooms and say hello to the teacher. If you are wishing to discuss how your child is going and their progress, please make an appointment for another time by calling the office. There will be a Sausage Sizzle from 5.30pm – a gold coin donation is appreciated. It would be great to see every Bradshaw family at school.
We are continuing to follow COVID Guidelines which means children need to stay home if they are sick, handwashing continues, using water bubblers safely, families pick up/drop off outside the classroom and using the COVID Check In app if you plan to be at the school more than 15 minutes. Look out for the QR Code at the gates.
I welcome the opportunity to meet with families Say hello and introduce yourself when you see me around the school or make an appointment to see me if you should wish to discuss a matter more formally.

Maths Madness in 5 Usher
Year 5 Usher have quickly settled into their learning routines. Today in their rotations they were learning together about time. How many times can you write your name in 60 seconds? Can you recall your 12 times tables?
