Term 3, Week 4 2025
Letter from the Principal
Werte Bradshaw Primary School Families,
It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks at school! We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming school leaders from across the region who visited to learn more about how we support professional development for our teachers. It’s always wonderful to share our practices and learn from others.
This week, we’re also participating in our school review. This important process helps us reflect on our current practices and plan for the future. The feedback we gain will guide our ongoing work and help us continue to grow as a school community.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for our upcoming camps—Year 4 students head off in Week 5, followed by our Year 5 camp in Week 6. These experiences are a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, independence, and lasting memories with their peers.
A couple of friendly reminders:
Please ensure your child arrives at school before 8:30am each day. The morning routines are an important part of setting students up for a successful day of learning.
If your child is going to be absent for any reason—whether unwell or away—it’s important to notify the school by phone or email.
Please keep an eye out for our school survey via text or email. Paper copies are also available at the front office. Your feedback is important and helps shape the future direction of our school.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in school life.
Warm regards,
Tim O'Sullivan
3M Term Update - We're Off to a Flying Start!
Our Term has kicked off with a flurry of learning and excitement!
In English, students are becoming master storytellers as we explore how to use dialogue, adverbs, and adjectives to create exciting and descriptive sentences. We’ve also been learning about appositives—bonus information that helps add detail to our writing! Our goal is to write our own thrilling narratives set in amazing locations across Australia. So far, we’ve explored mentor texts set in the Daintree Rainforest, Victorian High Country, Great Barrier Reef, and the Great Dividing Range—with more natural icons to come!
In Math, we’ve dived into statistics, learning how to collect data and organise it into tables. Students are well on their way to creating their own data sets, asking interesting questions and interpreting results like real mathematicians!
In Science, we’ve been investigating heat sources and exploring how our eyes detect light. Through hands-on experiments and guided discussions, students are learning how energy moves and how light helps us make sense of the world around us.
In Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), we’re loving our focus on self-kindness and embracing mistakes. Through fun and calming 'how to draw' tutorials, students are learning that making mistakes is all part of the creative process and personal growth.
It’s been a vibrant start to Term 3 and we can’t wait to see all the wonderful learning still to come, including our book week celebrations and school fete excitement!
4H - A Wonderful Start!
4H have had a wonderful start to Term 3. We have been learning different multiplication strategies to help us with our times tables. This week we are looking at the multiplication strategy for when we multiply one digit with a two-digit number. We can work these problems out by breaking up the two-digit number into two smaller numbers. You can see us practicing this skill in the below photos. We are looking forward to camp next week!

Mr Gowland - Thank you for the Music!
This term, students have been diving into the world of percussion!
In Years 3–6, they’ve been learning to play the djembe drum, while our Transition to Year 2 students have been exploring rhythm using rhythm sticks.
For our younger students, rhythm sticks are a fun and effective way to build early music skills—helping them develop a sense of beat, co-ordination, listening, and pattern recognition through movement and play.
For the older students, the focus has been on developing drumming technique by exploring the three fundamental sounds: tone, slap, and bass—using their hands to strike the drum in different ways.
A major highlight has been learning about polyrhythms—where two different rhythms are played at the same time. To practise this, students were split into two groups, each playing a different rhythm simultaneously on the djembes. This activity supports co-ordination, deep listening, and rhythm awareness.
All students have also been participating in call and response drumming, where they listen carefully to a rhythm and then memorise and repeat it back. It’s been a fun and challenging way to build musical memory, focus, and quick thinking.
