Term 3, Week 2 2025
Letter from the Principal
Werte Bradshaw Primary School Families,
It’s been a fantastic start to the term, with students settling straight back into learning—no time wasted! It’s wonderful to see their enthusiasm and focus in the classroom.
We have a busy term ahead, including our school review, two exciting camps, and of course, the much-anticipated School Fair at the end of the term. There’s plenty to look forward to!
Each year, all NT schools are required to conduct a survey for parents and carers. This is a valuable opportunity for you to share your thoughts and help shape our school community. When the survey becomes available, we strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to complete it—your voice matters.
Finally, a gentle reminder that school finishes at 2:50 pm. We’ve noticed some students are still waiting to be picked up at 3:10–3:15 pm. We understand that life gets busy, but please do your best to collect your children as close to 2:50 as possible.
Enjoy this rainy Friday!
Warm regards,
Tim O'Sullivan

This term, our curious Year One learners have been busy collecting data on all sorts of fun topics — from birthdays to favourite things — as part of our Maths investigations.
In Mentor Text, we’ve started reading The Curious Garden, which has sparked lively discussions about towns and communities. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to explore the special features of our own beautiful town, Alice Springs.
We’re also thrilled to welcome two new students to our Year One family — they’ve settled in beautifully and brought great energy to our classroom.
Another highlight has been the start of our Digi-Tech lessons! The children were bursting with excitement to dive into technology and can't wait to learn more

2T have settled back into school routines exceptionally well! Over the past two weeks we have be reviewing previously learning and introducing new topics.
In literacy our focus has been on the 4 sentence types and how they can be used. The children have been using the stories The way back home and Give me some space to learn about a narrative and more about our solar system.
In numeracy we’ve been comparing 2-digit and 3-digit numbers and placing numbers on to a number line. We have also looked at tally charts and how to interpret the data and plot it onto a dot graph. Next week we will be looking at multiplication using arrays that the children can make.
At the end of last term our class started dance lessons with miss Jessie, we are lucky enough to continue this lesson onto this term! The children have really enjoyed learning different ways that they can move their bodies!

3Z Learning Journey – Exploring Australia and Beyond!
We’re glad to see our students return with big smiles and warm hearts despite the chilly, freezing weather. It’s been wonderful to see the excitement in the classroom as students reconnect with their friends and settle back into routines.
Exploring Our Country: HASS & English Adventures
This term in Year 3, we’re setting off on an exciting journey across Australia—without even leaving the classroom! Through the rich and imaginative books Off We Go Around Australia, students are discovering the geography, culture, and stories of our nation. From bustling capital cities to breathtaking natural landmarks like the Great Barrier Reef and the Murray River, we’re learning what makes each place special.
We’re also taking time to reflect on how First Nations Australians connect to “Country” as a living, spiritual presence—what it looks like, sounds like, and feels like. These understandings are helping us build deeper meaning in our English lessons, where students are sharpening their skills in dialogue, sentence structure, and descriptive language. By the end of the term, students will be using these tools to craft their own imaginative narratives!
Math in Motion: Data, Dollars & Time
This term’s Maths program is hands-on, practical, and full of real-life connections! We kicked off by collecting and representing data using bar graphs, tally charts, and digital tools. Students are learning how to pose survey questions, analyse responses, and draw conclusions from what they find.
Next up, we’re diving into time—reading clocks to the nearest minute and exploring how hours, minutes, and seconds connect. In our money unit, we’ll work with coins and notes to practise adding amounts, calculating change, and solving money problems in multiple ways. To wrap up the term, students will focus on mental strategies for addition and subtraction, building fluency and confidence in their number work.
4 Parilla
Miss P is so pleased to share that Term 3 has started on a high note for our Year 4 students at Bradshaw Primary School! The children have returned from the holidays with such a positive attitude and a real excitement for learning, which has created a wonderful atmosphere across our classroom.
One of the highlights so far has been morning fitness. On Friday, the students engaged in fun and energetic fitness activities that help them get their bodies moving and minds ready for the day ahead. It’s been great to see the enthusiasm and teamwork on display as the students take part in these activities. Not only are they building healthy habits, but they’re also building sport skills and relationships.
In our learning this term, we’ve been focusing on some important mathematical concepts. The students have been working hard to build their understanding of time, money, and decimals. From reading analogue and digital clocks to calculating change and recognising the value of decimals, our learners have shown great persistence and curiosity. It’s been exciting to watch their confidence grow as they practice these real-world skills through hands-on activities and engaging lessons.
Our literacy learning has also been rich and rewarding. Students have been developing their comprehension and critical thinking skills by analysing different types of informative articles. Tied into our learning in science, we’ve been reading and writing about different materials, what they are made of, how they are used, and why their properties matter. This cross-curricular approach has sparked some fantastic conversations and thoughtful writing.
Miss P feels incredibly proud of the way 4P has embraced the start of Term 3 and can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings. Thank you to all our families for your ongoing support, it really does make a difference!
