Term 2, Week 8 2025
Letter from the Principal
Werte Bradshaw Primary School Families,
As we head into the long weekend, I’d like to wish all those attending the Finke Desert Race a fun and safe time—enjoy the entertainment and take care on the roads! Whether you're heading out to the race or enjoying a quieter weekend at home, we hope it brings some well-earned rest and joy.
This week marks the end of our swimming program. A big thank you to our families for remembering to send along everything needed each day, and to the staff and organisers who made it all run so smoothly. It’s been a fantastic experience for our students, building confidence and water safety skills.
It’s also been wonderful to see so many of you attending the recent Student-Led Conferences. These meetings are such a valuable opportunity to connect, celebrate progress, and share in your child’s learning journey. Your presence means so much to the students and staff alike.
Keep an eye out for student reports coming home soon—we’re proud of the growth and achievements our students have made this semester.
Wishing you all a safe and restful long weekend.
Preschool Twine
This week, MT Twine has been busy preparing entries for the Alice Springs Show. The students are teaming up with MT Price to decorate a cow, crafting pet rocks, and working together with the entire preschool to create a crocodile for our green thing. They’ve had a great time while showcasing their creativity. Be sure to check out their contributions at the Alice Springs Show!

Centralian Eisteddfod News
We are incredibly proud of our students who recently took part in the Centralian Eisteddfod. Our school choir, Grade 5C, and twelve talented prepared readers all rose to the occasion and performed beautifully.
Participating in an Australian Eisteddfod gives students a unique opportunity to develop confidence, creativity, and performance skills in a supportive environment. Whether singing, dancing, acting, or reading, students learn to express themselves, work towards a goal, and take pride in their efforts. It’s also a chance to share their talents with the wider community, receive constructive feedback from expert adjudicators, and be inspired by others. Most importantly, it’s a fun and rewarding experience that builds lifelong skills and memories.
The choir, taught and conducted by Ms Jamilee, delivered a lively and heartfelt performance, singing Blackbird by The Beatles and I Want You Back and ABC by The Jackson 5. Their energy and harmony earned them a well-deserved Highly Commended. Many of us are still walking around singing, blackbird, fly…
Grade 5C also shone in the Talent Quest with their joyful rendition of Count on Me by Bruno Mars. Their singing, paired with enthusiastic actions, was a crowd favourite and also earned them a Highly Commended.
The prepared readers impressed the audience and adjudicator with their clear projection, expressive delivery, and engaging use of actions. Special congratulations to April, who received a Highly Commended last Thursday for her animated reading of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory—we take this HC as a firm second, with the adjudicator noting he wished he could award two first places! Deieon also received a Highly Commended on Friday for his exhilarating and mesmerising reading of Rick Riordan’s The Lightning Thief.
To celebrate their efforts and achievements, the prepared readers enjoyed a well-earned hot chocolate.
Well done to all our amazing performers!
Mrs Pedrotti.

Golf Workshop Fun!
In Week 6 on Friday afternoon, our NTLC students and a group of their friends enjoyed a fantastic golf workshop led by PGA professionals. Students learned new skills, practiced their swings, and had a great time outdoors. They learned to hold and swing the club using the alphabet method—starting in a Y stance and finishing in a T. Students also measured the speed of their swing. The female champ was Rilee Sabadin with 48kmph, and the male champ was Taki with a swing speed of 64kmph. A big thank you to the PGA team for sharing their expertise and enthusiasm!
Thank you to Mrs Usher for organising this bonding event for the NTLC.

5 Creswell - Second Place!
Recently in 5C we have been very busy with lots of exciting events taking place.
A couple of weeks ago, we went to the Eisteddfod and won a highly commended certificate (which we are choosing to see as second place)! We are incredibly proud of this and even showed all our peers when we performed our piece in assembly.
Swimming has also been lots of fun. It's been a great experience to develop our swimming skills and learn how to keep ourselves safe in the water.
In Literacy, we are reading: The night they stormed Eureka by Jackie French and are learning about mining during the gold rush of the 1850s. We have used our knowledge to create timelines and are currently working on our book reviews.
In Mathematics, we have been learning to use our addition skills and knowledge of shapes to calculate perimeters. We are also learning about fractions, where we are currently working to use our knowledge of equivalent fractions to be able to add and subtract fractions with different denominators.
3 Lambert - Care, Share & Shine!
This term has been filled with such excitement for 3L from swimming lessons to school sleepovers!
The children have had an amazing time at their swimming lessons earlier in the term and this was followed up with the year 3 sleepover where the children got to enjoy such an abundance of fun activities, pizza, popcorn and a movie! They all really showed that they care, share and shine for each other.
In literacy we have been writing an information report all about different celebrations around the world. There are some really wonderful reports on Easter in Greece and ANZAC day. Alongside their reports 3L have been working on writing compound sentences focusing on the use of conjunctions and punctuation.
In Maths there has been some super work on addition and subtraction and also fractions. The children have showed a growing understanding and showcased this through a wide range of hands-on activities. The class has shown that they do not only have amazing maths knowledge, but they can use their problem-solving skills to work things out too.
There have also been some amazing choir singers from 3L who have really enjoyed participating in this each week.
I am really proud of all the great learning and achievements we have had over this term. Great work 3L!
