Term 2, Week 6 2025
Message from the Assistant Principal
Dear Bradshaw Community,
It has been a vibrant and inspiring week at Bradshaw Primary School, filled with many exciting achievements. Our students and staff continue to show dedication and hard work, and we are proud of all they are accomplishing.
Top End Principals Visit
Last week, we were honoured to host a group of Top End Principals who visited our school to observe our teaching and learning model. Their feedback was incredibly positive:
“The clarity, consistency, and depth of practice demonstrated across classrooms was truly inspiring. It is evident that your team sets and maintains high standards, and the impact on student learning is clear. I left feeling genuinely excited and hopeful about the future of education, knowing such strong models of practice exist within our system.”
This feedback reflects the commitment of our staff to creating a learning environment where all students can thrive. We are proud of the progress we are making and grateful for the recognition from our colleagues.
Author Visits
We recently welcomed authors Michelle Worthington, Anne Ryan, and Harry Ling to Bradshaw. Their visits were a fantastic opportunity for our students to engage with these talented writers. The sessions sparked creativity and a love for storytelling, and we are grateful to the authors for inspiring our students.
Eisteddfod Highlights
Bradshaw Primary School showcased its incredible talents at the recent Eisteddfod. Our Year 5 students, led by Ms. Heather Creswell, delivered a fantastic singing performance. The school choir, led by Ms. Jamilee, wowed the audience with their beautiful harmonies. Ms. Pedrotti’s prepared readings were also well-received. These performances demonstrate the hard work and creativity of our students and staff.
Year 6 Transition Visit to Centralian Middle School
Our Year 6 students had their first transition visit to Centralian Middle School, where they got a glimpse of the exciting opportunities ahead as they prepare for high school. This visit marks an important milestone in their educational journey.
Sports Day Success
We are still celebrating the success of our Sports Day held at the end of Week 4. Congratulations to Alkere for winning again this year! All houses and leaders demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and followed the expectations of our school values: “We Care, We Share, We Shine.” The event was a wonderful display of school spirit and community.
Bake Sale Fundraiser
A huge thank you to everyone who baked and donated for our recent bake sale. With your support, we raised over $1,200, which will go toward enhancing the learning experiences for our students. We truly appreciate your generosity.
Uniform Reminders
As the weather begins to cool with the arrival of winter, we kindly remind families to ensure students are wearing the school jumper or a plain dark blue jumper. This helps to maintain consistency and a neat appearance as students stay warm during the colder months.
We look forward to the exciting events ahead and thank our families for their ongoing support in making Bradshaw Primary School such a fantastic place for our students to learn and grow.
Warm regards,
Ioana Suciu

3 McGregor: Caring, Sharing & Shinning
This Term in 3M, our students have been caring, sharing and shining in so many areas of their learning journey!
We recently completed two weeks of swimming lessons, where students enthusiastically participated and made fantastic progress in their confidence and skills in the water. It was wonderful to see their determination and excitement!
In the classroom, our class has been diving into the GUTS dance program, pouring their creativity into choreographing their very own dance routine.
In English, students are developing their writing skills by mastering compound sentences. With their growing understanding of conjunctions and punctuation, they are crafting sentences that are not only grammatically correct but also full of flair. Many of these sentences include the learning from our HASS unit where we’ve been exploring celebrations from all around the globe. From the vibrant lights of Diwali and the joyous feasts of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, the commemorations on ANZAC Day, to the unique Easter traditions in Greece, our class is gaining a deeper appreciation for the rich tapestry of cultures worldwide.
Math has been a hub of discovery as we explore different methods for adding and subtracting larger numbers. Our budding mathematicians are building strong problem-solving skills while enjoying the process.
I am so proud of the effort and enthusiasm 3M brings to every activity—it’s been a fantastic term of growth and achievement!

Transition Gill
Transition Gill have been working so hard this term. They've learned new sounds & are able to read simple words, sentences, and books!
They can write simple sentences with a noun and a verb and are now learning about adjectives.
In mentor text, they're looking at celebrations around the world, and how different cultures have different traditions.
Students are adding and subtracting numbers to 10, using counters to help them solve problems. We've learned the words long and short and have used these to compare the length of objects.
They enjoyed sharing pancakes, fruit & donuts with their mums for our Mother’s Day breakfast & even made their mums crowns to wear.
Swimming lessons have been an absolute blast! All students have enjoyed going to the town pool to build their confidence in the water.

4 Hodgens
4H have had a busy start to Term 2 filled with lots of learning!
In Literacy, we are reading Blueback by Tim Winton and learning about sustainability and overfishing. We are using this knowledge to take evidence from the text and compose a response to text.
In Mathematics, we have been learning and practising different strategies to help us with our multiplication facts. The most recent strategy we have learnt is the 6x strategy. If the question is 6 x 8, we know that we can do 5 x 8 first (40) plus one group (8). The answer to 6 x 8 is 48. We loved doing the matching cards to help us practice this.
We are looking forward to Swimming Lessons starting next week!

2 Tilmouth: Learning here, learning there, learning everywhere
This term has been a huge one! 2 Tilmouth has done so many things already.
We had our Anzac ceremony at school where we made a beautiful wreath. We also did an Anzac inspired art activity using water colours and stencils.
At the town pool we completed our 2-week swimming lessons. So much growth in such a short time. We celebrated our last day with a special treat of ice cream.
In the classroom we hosted a Mother's Day morning tea and invited our mums, nanas and bubs to share a meal and create some craft together.
In science we have been learning about natural resources. We made our very own ice-cream. It was such a hit! we learned that the different ingredients in ice cream come from different natural resources. Like the chocolate comes from a cocoa bean. The milk comes from a cow. Sugar comes from cane etc.
Sports day was a massive day. We had so much fun completing the tabloid activities, running in our races and cheering for our team. Miss Tilmouth also completed in a teacher race. We were so tired but had so much fun and can't wait to do more next year.
An author named Harry came and visited. We learned about poems and how to make our very own. We made poems about our strange creatures. Some pets were a rock, a pencil, a lion and a unicorn. They ate things like dirt or lead. They slept in places like on a paper bed or in a freezer. Their exercised by running or jumping into ponds. It was great being able to let our imagination run free.
I wonder what wonderful things we will get up to for the rest of the term.
