Week 5, Term 4, 2020
Update from Leadership
It is amazing how quickly this last term seems to be flying. Students are very busy with a variety of activities happening cross the year levels. Our Year 6 students are undertaking visits to their schools for 2021 to help ease the transition to middle school. Our youngest students for next year have been visiting the preschool, and the current pre-schoolers are making regular visits to the Transition classroom in preparation for their first year at big school.
Students from Transition to Year 3 have been attending swimming lessons at the town pool. While everyone is very tired by the end of the week the students have been making great progress with their swimming skills. A big thank you to the teachers and support staff for all the work, and a particular thank you to Mrs T, Shannan and Tiny for driving the bus.
We are also wrapping up some fun NAIDOC activities this week. Classes are completing paintings that will be displayed around the school. A huge thank you to the Akaltye team for organising a range of activities for the students.
Students are now able to use the bubblers around the school. This is great as the hot weather has really started this week. Students are asked to wash their hands first, to let the water run briefly before drinking and to not put their mouth directly on the tap. We continue to encourage students to bring their own water bottles to keep hydrated throughout the day.
Teachers have begun to make preparations for next year. We are finalising the class structure and will soon begin looking at classes. If you are not returning to Bradshaw in 2021 please contact the front office to let us know. If you would like to discuss your child’s needs please contact the office to make a time to speak to Mrs Turk.
Finally a big congratulations to Michele Turk on behalf of the entire Bradshaw community for winning the Northern Territory Leadership in Schools award as part of the World Teachers’ Day Teach in the Territory Excellence awards. Michele is an inspiring leader and a well-deserved winner. Congratulations.

NAIDOC Week
Thank you to the Akaltye Team who have put together our NAIDOC Week program of activities. It was a week of fun, as well as celebrating the land we live on.

Congratulations Emily!
Bradshaw Primary School congratulates Emily Cook as she was a winner and received Highly Commended in the Territory Young Author’s Awards. Below is the introduction of the winning piece Emily created.
The Scale of Destiny by Emily Cook
Once, there lived a girl named Honey. She had warm, hazel eyes, caramel skin and wavy brown hair. She was very claustrophobic, so she spent a lot of her time outdoors. One day, she was at the neighbourhood park when she found something. She didn’t know it at the time, but what she found would change her life forever.
The scale was beautiful. Honey picked it up, watching the colours swirl across its shiny surface. It was quite heavy, and about the size of her palm. Honey wondered what animal it came from. Certainly not one she knew of. She gently brushed the dirt off the scale. Now that it was clean, she could truly appreciate the glorious colours. At first glance, the scale looked reddish-brown. However, when she looked closer, Honey could see glimmers of green, blue, yellow and purple dancing across it, not unlike the surface of a bubble. She was captivated by its beauty.

Whats been happening at Bradshaw?
Students have been developing their ‘striking’ skills this term in PE. They have had the opportunity to practice in a number of small games and challenges. We even enjoyed a week-long visit with NT Tennis!

Our littlest learners are curious about the critters and creatures in the school yard. The life cycle of the Cicadas are happening before our eyes! What a great time to have Ranger Susie come in.

Transition Manchester have been reading the book Stick Man. Check out their very own Stick Men they have created.
