Term 2, Week 2 2025
Message from the Principal
Werte Bradshaw Primary School Families,
What a busy start to the term! With all the public holidays, it has been an interesting start to. Everyone is getting back into the groove, and it was great to see such purposeful learning happening across the school this week.
Today we commemorated ANZAC day. Thanks to the students who shared their learning and thoughts on this very significant event and day. Thanks, Ms. Usher, for putting it all together.
Sadly, this was Mr. Howie’s last week with us. Mr. Howie started on as a year 3 teacher last year before taking on the role of science teacher across the school for the best part of a year. We wish him the best in whatever is coming next.
We are very excited to have Mr. Gowland joining us. Mr. Gowland will be teaching music across the school. He has a lot of experience as a music teacher in the U.K and has spent this week getting to know the other staff and familiarising himself with all the classes.
Year 6 have spent a fabulous couple of days on camp at Ross River. I'm sure they are all extremely tired but have formed great memories and deepened friendships. Thanks to Ioana, Paige, Rhiannon and the whole year 6 team for your efforts.
Next week, the years 1-3 will be starting their swimming program. Please have students at school on time and ready to go. These are very busy days, and we are unable to delay departure to the pool in order to wait for students who are arriving late.
Please enjoy your long weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.

Thames River Embankment Habitats - Science
This year our clever Years 6 classes engaged and did a deep dive into the Thames River in London because of its wide variety of very varied habitats. They portioned off sections of the river. Great work you mob, Mr Howie.

Easter in the Library with Mrs Amy
The Easter Bunny has sprinkled some Easter magic in the library!
I hope you all had a relaxing, extra-long weekend, spent with family and friends.
A reminder to please bring back any book returns and keep an eye out at home for any Bradshaw barcodes, that need to make their way back to their home. 😊
Bradshaw is always on the hunt for old books, that can be shared with someone new, at our annual book swap during national book week! If you have any donations that need a new home, please feel free to bring them into the front office, or to the library.
Here’s to another long weekend and I will see you all next week.
Many Thanks, Mrs Amy.

Pre School Community Garden Excursion
This week, our preschoolers had a wonderful excursion to a local community garden. It was an exciting, hands-on learning experience where the children explored the natural world around them.
Together, we discovered a variety of plants, identified fruits that grow on trees, and spotted different types of vegetables growing in the garden beds. The children were especially curious about how worms play a special role in helping break down old vegetables and leaves, turning them into nutrient-rich compost. We learnt how this compost helps create healthy soil—perfect for planting new seeds and helping gardens thrive!
It was a fantastic way for the children to connect with nature, understand where our food comes from, and see how everything in the garden works together. So much learning and fun all in one day!
Thank you, Westside Community Garden, for having us! :)

Year 6 Camp - Ross River
This week, our Year 6 students had an unforgettable camp experience out at Ross River—filled with laughter, learning, and lasting memories.
We kicked things off on a chilly Tuesday morning with an 8km walk from Emily Gap to Jessie Gap. Despite the cold, spirits were high, and the students showed great resilience and teamwork. That evening, we enjoyed a fun and educational trivia night, which brought lots of laughs and some healthy competition!
On the second day, we explored the riverbed at Ross River and had the unique opportunity to enjoy kangaroo tail, generously prepared by Clontarf from CMS. It was a special cultural experience that the students really appreciated. The day ended on a high note with a talent show, where students shone with their creativity and confidence.
Today, we wrapped up our adventure with a beautiful walk through Trephina Gorge before heading back to school.
A big thank you to all the staff who supported this camp and made it so special. And a very special thank you to Clontarf from CMS for joining us and spending time with our students—we truly appreciated your presence and contribution.
