Term 1, Week 6 2025
Message from the Principal
Werte Bradshaw Primary School Community,
It has been a great couple of weeks across the school with lots of amazing learning. I love walking in and out of the different classrooms seeing how much Bradshaw students love to SHARE their learning. Often times the classroom is buzzing with productive learning as students eagerly engage in conversation about what they are learning and enthusiastically give answers and respond to teacher questions.
Last week Clare Scott, who visits occasionally to support us in delivering our spelling program, visited the school. Clare works with lots of schools throughout Victoria. She commented to me that the students are amongst the most polite and welcoming. She was astounded by how many students would say hello and greet her as she passed them in the school grounds. This is a great testament to all the students and staff who ensure that we every day live up to our values of We CARE, SHARE and SHINE.
Over much of week 7 and 8 students in years 3 and 5 are going to be taking part in the NAPLAN assessment. This is a great opportunity as a school to measure how we are tracking. All that we ask of our learners is that they do their best and attempt to answer as many of the questions as possible. In preparation for NAPLAN, please try and ensure your children have an early night, a good breakfast and calm morning. As mentioned above, I am confident that our student will show that they CARE about their learning and will do their best.
Please enjoy your weekend and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday.

You are All Amazing, Transition Gill
What an amazing 6 weeks we have had! Students have been learning how to count, identify, and write numbers 0-10. We have been creating simple patterns with colours, shapes and animals.
In literacy we have read so many books and love visiting the library to borrow books. We know that a book has a title, an author, pictures, a spine and a blurb. Students are learning to identify nouns and verbs in a sentence and know that a sentence needs to have both a noun and a verb for it to be complete. We have now learnt our first 19 sounds and are on our way to becoming Readers.
Discovery Learning has been such a great learning experience every day. Students learn to share, take turns, and expand their vocabulary, all while developing fine motor skills through Lego play and painting.
We have had a strong focus on social and emotional learning- in particular being a good friend, making good choices, sharing, and identifying our feelings.
Students are learning how to use a computer and are enjoying doing Reading Eggs.
In Chinese we have learned how to say "Hello, my name is..." and "goodbye". Students also know the story of the Chinese zodiac and how this year is the year of the Snake.
Well done on a fantastic start to your first year of school, TG. You are all amazing!!

Fantastic Focus & Enthusiasm, 1 Wadsworth
I am so happy to be teaching this wonderful class and can’t wait to see what the year brings us! We have been showing fantastic focus and enthusiasm!
This week, we’ve been powering up our writing with some amazing adjectives: making our sentences more exciting. In maths, we’ve been using our super brains to defeat the zero, cracking the mystery of what happens when we add or subtract it.
As we come to the end of our Wilbur adventure, those adjectives will be powering through into our next book, keeping our writing just as exciting! It’s been a fantastic start to the term, and I can’t wait for all the fun and learning still to come!
Fabulous Start to the Year, 2 Titcombe
We’ve had a fabulous start to the new year, and I’ve had a very warm welcome from the children. Over the past 6 weeks, our students have been actively learning our classroom routines and have been settling well into year 2.
In literacy our focus has been on understanding nouns and how common nouns can be changed into proper nouns. The children have been using the engaging story of Eat My Dust as a starting point to learn about transport in Australia.
In numeracy we’ve been recording information using tally charts, learning the place value of 3-digit numbers and adding 2-digit numbers together using ten frames and number lines. The children have enjoyed hands on activities that consolidate their learning.
Our children have enjoyed learning about cars, to further this excitement we have deigned and made our own cars through junk modelling. Some even more!

Shining Through Every Activity, 3 Zuo
A Fantastic Start to the Term!
The past five weeks have been an exciting journey of learning, teamwork, and independent work in our Year 3Z classroom. Students have settled in beautifully, building strong connections with their peers and engaging enthusiastically in their lessons. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and determination shine through every activity!
Exploring History through Literacy
In literacy, we have been delving into the fascinating world of history through the book My Place. Students have enjoyed exploring different time periods, understanding how life has changed over the years, and making connections to their own lives. Through discussions, writing activities, and creative projects, they have developed a deeper appreciation for storytelling and historical perspectives.
Mathematical Adventures
Maths has been a hive of activity as we focus on place value, multiplication, and division. Students have been sharpening their number skills through hands-on activities, group challenges, and problem-solving tasks. Their confidence in working with numbers is growing each day, and they are enjoying the challenge of applying their learning in different ways.
A Love for Reading
One of the highlights of our week is our time in the library! It has been delightful to see students’ enthusiasm for books grow as they discover new stories, explore different genres, and develop a love for independent reading. Encouraging a strong reading habit is a key focus, and we love seeing the joy that books bring to our classroom discussions.

Keep up the Amazing Work, 4 Zabilowicz
Wow! What an amazing start to Year 4 we have had – the year is quickly flying by!
In literacy, students have been exploring colonization back in 1788 and writing diary entries from the perspectives of convicts or Eora People. We have discovered why the British came to Australia, what happened on first contact, and the amazing story between the Eora man, Bennelong, and the Captain of the First Fleet, Arthur Phillip. In mathematics, we have expanded our place value knowledge to tenths and hundredths and started learning about the relationship between improper and mixed fractions. Students have been busy playing engaging mathematics games to strengthen and solidify that knowledge.
We have also been fortunate to participate in many fun extracurricular activities outside of the classroom, including GUTS Dance and Basketball during PE. Students have been building their resilience and teamwork skills during these activities, and we can’t wait to continue growing and learning this term and into the year! Keep up the amazing work, 4Z!
